Everyone likes christmas no? Yeah... the gifts.. the big tree.. the roaring fire! Then again, there are the parents... the hugs... the crappy presents, the "sure to be radioactive" fruitcake, the old arguments coming back over and over again! Thus, the use for this mod. Xmas is a way to bring christmas... into Half-Life! Everything in HL is replaced with christmas themed stuff. The 2d art, the models, the sounds, everything is changed! So now, when your mad because of your ol' grandma coming to hug you and kiss your face, you can relax!... by shooting off a few grenades and blowing the crap out of your enemies! Xmas: "Santa's coming to town!... and he's packin' heat!"

Hello Xmas fans!
Here is an update on the current state of the mod:

As it turns out, many things have cropped up in gameplay of Xmas which need addressing:

Weapons:
-Unbalanced weapons (Stapler)
-Animations (Boomstick, Stapler)
-Incomplete overhaul of all the HL weapons to the Xmas theme (Egon, tripmines, snarks)

The theme itself:
-The main comments i have received about Xmas is the lack of "uniqueness" of the mod to further differentiate it from Half-Life DeathMatch. This is understandable and i share my fan's concerns.

Although it is hard to come up with ways to make DeathMatch feel "new" again, i have received good suggestions on new gameplay ideas which can be implemented to "spice things up" which will be explained further below.

-The "look" of Xmas itself is an issue. The whole mod revolves around Christmas primarily, but with an "evil" twist, without going on horror or gore and is certainly not ANTI-christmas.

Thus, many things will change in the mod to better suit the theme and make it more evident ranging from more "off the wall weapons", crazier skins and a more "evil" take on things ("Evil Santa's shop-of-doom" anyone? ;) )

Additions:

New gameplay:
-"Bag Santa!"
When someone reaches 30 frags, the gameplay automatically chances from DeathMatch to a "king of the hill" gameplay where the person with 30 frags becomes Evil Santa and gets an "instagib candy cane" and 200 armor.

You cannot hurt any other player but Santa and he only takes damage with EXPLOSIVE weapons. Once he's down, the killer gets 10 frags and regular DeathMatch gameplay comes back again until someone else reaches 30 frags or more (60, 90, 120, etc)

-Driveable "Ravage" R/C buggy satchel
Currently in development is being able to drive your satchel towards your target. It goes twice as fast as a normal player, turns on a dime and deals a lot of damage when it explodes.

The drawback is that when you are driving the buggy, you go into 3rd person mode behind the buggy and your player model is completely vulnerable to attack. If he dies, your buggy explodes and you respawn normaly. Also, the buggy cannot jump or climb stairs so it must be used on open terrain for maximum effectiveness.
