Hello everyone, im going to keep this short and sweet.

So straight to the point, im releasing the first set of ships of which you'll find to download at the bottom of the page, now dont get too exited, the ships are about as bare bones simple as i could get them to avoid bugs, so this means no custom turrets, no custom cockpits (except the longsword, which is buggy but does not effect game play) and the biggy, no custom weapons. the weapons turned out to be very buggy and had major compatability issues with other mods, so have been left out of this release. what i have done though, is make sure that all turrets have all weapon compatability so they can fire which ever weapons you want them to.

Essentially what we're looking at here are just xsp ship files, so very much just a taster of what this mod could be like.

There are six ships to download, three from each faction:
UNSC Halcyon cruiser: Mediafire.com
UNSC Paris heavy frigate: Mediafire.com
UNSC Longsword: Mediafire.com
Covenant Assault carrier: Mediafire.com
Covenant CCS cruiser: Mediafire.com

There are a few bugs with these ships that i am aware of but these ships are the ones that seem to work consistently enough for me to allow a release.

Have you never been on the egosoft forums? there are loads of mods there. xtended is one such great mod. There are loads of ship mods adding star wars and battlestar galactica ships and there are loads of scripts that improve gameplay. i do however feel there needs to be more halo ships. :)

actually, no, its really simple, possiby one of the most simple to mod, once you learn what to do anything is possible really. i think the lack of mods for x3 is down to the lack of players, it doesnt seem to be a well known game. it could also be that may people are content with the standard game as it is vast

Lack of mods? That's crazy dude; especially considering that X3: Terran Conflict is pretty much an extension of the Xtended mod (with members of it's team helping with it's creation).
Perhaps not the same mass of large overhaul mods as other games; but X doesn't rely on them - instead an insane database of scripts, tweaks and additions.
X3 does definitely lack total conversions which is slightly strange considering the ease and scale of the game (same with X2; most mods that include Star Trek/Star Wars ships add them rather than anything more); suppose lack of multiplayer might be part of it.
This looks like a great start, hopefully not die.

Now, I'm not a Halo fanatic or a hater either, but the amount of stuff in X3 is like 5x what we have about the Halo universe. Not to knock you or anything, but without taking out alot of the stuff already in X3, how do you think you are going to go filling the Shipyards? There are not a hell of alot of Halo ships, it is a ground game. If you have a link to a database or something akin to that on Halo's spacefaring side, I'd love to see it.

There isnt much known about say the covenant as much but the humans and unsc actually have alot of ships enough to fill at least 1 factions shipyards (btw the shipyards for x2-3 were pretty sparse until terran came out)

creative criticsm is always welcome :) if you look on the halopedia website or other similar sites, they show details of alot more ships than are shown in the games, but yes i agree there are probably many more ships in the x universe than in halo and that is a problem that is troubling us, and if we cant work it to a single universe we may have to start looking towards adding it to the x universe, as in having a mini universe added to the the outside of the current map. but thats a long way off, its all just in the conceptual stage and we have many hurdles and problems to overcome to get it right even if we have to sacrifice a few things. but as i said before its early days yet and theres a long way to go

I imagine he'll be mostly coming up with new ships as he goes along, since that's all you can do with a series that priding itself on space combat in the first place. There's a lot of alternate reading/settings floating around about Halo that you can go off of as well.
