Be glad it's not looking your way. 40 mm wounds do not heal. There is no such thing as a 40 mm wound that you can recover from. You get recovered in plastic bags from 40 mm rounds. Use of these things was outlawed by Geneva convention. But who cares, we're defending America from commies! Not really sure why we're in Vietnam, but ok.
One 40 mm shell was equivalent to 5 M61 hand grenades. It could penetrate 65 mm of rolled homogenous armor at 100 m. Fire was effective up to 1500 m horizontal. You could not hide. Anywhere. It would find you.
