Here you can see several versions of this apc - with an armored roof (BTR-152K) and mobile artillery control centre (BTR-152U)
nice, strange vechicle but nice. And it's an new update so this means PROGRESS

So I assume the mobile artillery control center allows to call down off-map artillery in multiplayer?
Quite correct :) Concept had been proven on a similar US vehicle. Works like a charm.
