"World Domination" is a mod based on taking over and ruling the world on the source engine. The mod focuses on the player gaining support and rising from the ranks of petty criminal to guerilla leader to criminal mastermind and finally a dictator of the world.
The mod is inspired by many games such as "Evil Genius", "Mafia" and the HL2 mod "Empires".
World Domination follows the character Alec Williams as he attempts to satisfy his lust for power by ruling the world. The game will allow players to undertake many missions that all attribute to the player's ultimate goal of become the leader of the world. Missions involve robbing banks, shops and other areas of interests like petrol depots and weapons depots as well as gaining support through a variety of other missions that involve the player in graffiti acts, public acts of treason and assassination.
There are two types of missions; story missions which further the storyline and supplementary missions which allow the player to steal cash to fund their campaign or perform various other "important" missions which, when completed unlock the next story mission.
After each mission, the player will arrive back at their base of operations which they can outfit with supplies and other objects, as well as undertake various administration duties such as hiring recruits for the player's personal army, training recruits and checking information on how their campaign is running.
Some of the features which will be included in the final product are:
* Multiple Resources and Resource management system - Support and Cash are player specific resources whilst Power and Food are faction specific resources.
* Ranking system - a measurement of how powerful the player is (ranks start at petty criminal and rise all the way up to dictator/ruler of the world.
* Base Building System (BBS) - the player will be able to outfit his base with everything he buys or steals from shops so that the faction can flourish.
* Recruitment and Training system - the player can hire members for his faction to do his deeds for him/her. The player can also train these recruits so that they are better able to defend themselves and undertake missions.
* Entourage Members - being powerful has it's benefits, you will be able to hire special members who will act as bodyguards or elite henchmen when out on missions.

Well it hasn't been that long since our last news posting, but alot has been going on behind the scenes. We are preparing for a huge structural shift in the team, but that is for another news post.
We have been working hard to get some media together but some of us are fighting more technical issues (it always happens at the worst time possible), thankfully it has only affected myself so work can still continue while the issue is fixed.
We have a few new members to welcome to the team. Johny, our coder is currently working on our in-game menu system which will allow the player to access different missions from a laptop in his/her base. This system will then transport the player to a mission map which allows them to complete the mission and be teleported back to the base. When this is completed it should be a huge step in the right direction for the mod and will really allow us to push what we are capable of doing. Even better news is that Johny has informed us that the system (a very early prototype of the system) should be completed next week. So stay tuned for a media release of the working system.
Our next member of the team is CosminMarza. Cosmin is our Music Composer for the mod and will be working closely with us to achieve really dramatic and epic tracks for the game.
FInally, our resident Van Gogh, Mkraszewski has come up with 5 new concepts for us!
Stay tuned for our next news release!

As STPDeveloping said, it will be singleplayer and the ranks will be attained throughout the game, so if you finish the game then you will be the highest rank. Each rank may be used as a way to access the storyline. In other words, you can't continue until you are notorious enough and have a certain level of support.
We may include a multiplayer side of the mod, but for the time being it will be singleplayer only.
It would be cool if you could compare your ranks with those of other players, through steam
Very interesting... However, it's singleplayer, and relatively linear, with missions and such, but open ways to get to them. So i don't really see the point.
It's good to hear encouragement in such a small time after setting up the mod profile :D
AKA Socialist Propoganda.
Wow, seems like a realy awsome project, really looking forward to it!
