Wivenhoe is a prelude to the events of Half-Life 2 and explains various events and locations from within the game itself. The player takes part in a coordinated civilian uprising to prevent the shelling of Ravenholm, the last bastion held by the civilians in City 17.
Wivenhoe is a Combine-controlled dam facility upriver from City 17 and the environments consist of the spillway, dam wall, indoor facility and a bridge across the ravine. These environments incorporate stealth, action and horror gameplay.

I cant find any levels i cant start the game there are no levels
I enjoyed it! Here's a little walkthrough video I made!
Disappointing.
Map design just average, difficulty not well balanced, a good "horror" part (although brief), and a most diappointing ending. Really going nowhere.
And it has nothing to do with Ravenholm.
Worst part is the beginning: you start with just 1 (ONE!) health point, and you have to evade guards and turrets. Pointlessly sadistic and not fun at all.
If the designer wanted to scare people off his game, he did.
I'd say it's a waste of your time, but YMMV.
The first stealth part was way too hard but from that on I had my scares and my fun with this mod until it suddenly came to an end...
and not being listed as "released" in combination with zero media makes me wonder about the story of the mod's development...Varsity?
this mod attempted to capture stealth, horror, and role-playing at a time when there was little else to go off of. not bad i suppose, but the only one that really did well for me was the horrow element.
the stealth element was ruined by dropping fifty feet into shallow water and surviving, especially while sitting on one health. Then, it seemed that there was zero use of the block_los texture, which would have made it easier to sneak by the combine while also making it seem dangerous to cross by them. even raising the starting health to 50 would have made the opening much better IMO.
the horror element, while never explained, is pretty cool. There's plenty of creepy noises, suddenly appearing monsters, and unusual knocks on the walls that suggest there's supernatural forces at work here. I was getting excited about some kind of interesting hidden ghost story. Alas, I came back into a fight-the-combine scene and never saw or heard of the supposed ghosts again. SIGH, that sucks.
the final battle seemed to last forever until I realized I was supposed to jump across the gap and exit via the tunnel. There was little direction here, especially when a door opened that led to nowhere...I was confused by the final battle.
Overall, decent combat and horror elements, but terribly lacking in creative stealth design...and storytelling.
Is it completely released, really ? Or it is only the begininng of the "famous" Fall of Ravenholm ? And what about Wivenhoe (Park) ? I 've learnt nothing about HL2 story ... Technically ok.
I used cheats to get past the first part, I felt like Half-Life 2 wasn't a game made for you to be sneaking about like that, ya know? However once I got past that part it was VERY good. The part at the end with the rebel allies was fun.

Well, all games suck if you cheat in them, so complaning about the game being short just because you cheated is like complaining about the idiot who made the trap you just fell in, when it was in fact you who made it XD
You make the bed you sleep in, as we say in sweden.
There's a review of Wivenhoe over at PHL now :)
