It's been almost 10 months after the release of Wings of Dawn 1 now and one might start to wonder where part 2 is at. All the assets are already there right? It's merely a matter of mission creation now, surely?
Alas! Certainly, WoD1 had a large amount of custom created assets and weapon effects but was sorely lacking ships for the Cyrva and the Zy (who only had a single fighter craft each). So these past months have been well spend in making sure that every race now has proper war material!
Axem, creator of the impressive Freespace campaign Vassago Dirge, has been a tremendous help and is responsible for creating the mesh of the new Fura'ngle ships as well as the designer and creator of the Cyrvan capital ships.
There's also been all sorts of little improvements made on other fronts. Like custom countermeasures for each race as well as distinct flyby sounds. Older WoD1 ships have been resmoothed, have more debris (always a good thing in combination with the awesome burning debris script that has been introduced in mediavp 3612) and seams have been removed.
Aside from new primary and secondary weapons, there are also plans for equipment that can be equipped on a fighter to improve on certain aspects of the craft. Battuta of the Blue Planet team has already demonstrated to me that it can work beautifully ingame (I'll restrain myself from breaking out in song and dance about the glorious mission design the BP team is working on for WiH R2 ;) )
Last but not least I present you this Wod2 trailer/opening movie:
And a few more screenshots of new ships.
God I love that intro movie SO MUCH
