We're pleased to announce that dedicated servers (wic_ds) for MW Mod are now possible, starting with mod version 4.8.
The MW Mod dedicated server is made possible by Nukem's wic_ds_hook which applies the following changes:
- Disablement of superfluous assert() enforced crashes.
- Unlocking of running tick rate to 167-200 frames per second for FLINT missile system.
The server is mostly running fine right now, though there are some server crashes related to wic.game python methods that mod calls with radar units and such, so do expect that MW Mod dedicated server may crash from time to time and it is overall, a work in progress.
First, get back on Massgate.
First, you need to download the new Massgate.org patch to in order to play multiplayer again, because Ubisoft shutdown the official multiplayer service in December 2015.
Go to www.massgate.org and follow the instructions to patch your World in Conflict installation to support Massgate.org service.
Trying out the MW Mod Dedicated Server
Once you're logged into multiplayer, go to Servers page and look for servers on the list that start with [WiC MW] on their name (i.e. [WiC MW] MW Mod 4.8 US 01). That's it... enjoy!!
Please NOTE that MW Mod dedicated server is a work in progress right now -- it can sometimes crash. Don't be surprised if you suddenly see "Connection to server lost.." or don't see MW Mod servers listed on multiplayer anymore -- the server probably crashed (lol) -- don't worry about it, it will come back up automatically within 30 minutes.
Hosting your own game session on Massgate.org
Lastly, if you would like to host the game yourself, you need to configure your firewall to let certain ports through. Read up here to host your own game on Massgate.
