Modern Warfare Mod 3 brings World in Conflict from the Cold War into the Modern Age. It also ups the ante on realism and authenticity in every role – Infantry, Armor, Support and Air, while trying our best to keep everything relatively balanced for fun and interesting gameplay.
World In Conflict: Modern Warfare does exactly as it is written on the frontpage. MW transforms the game from a typical WWIII scenario in the Cold War period to a typical WWIII scenario in the modern after the Cold War period with a emphasis on “modern warfare” that is, the warfare of today's year(s).
The NATO faction has been removed totally probably because it is being still in development, this is kind of sad because it was THE faction that made the game different from all of the America vs. Russian engagements. But there's nothing that can be done about it. Modern Warfare features two factions: the Russians (which are based upon regular Motostrelki and mountain infantry forces) and the Americans (which are based heavily upon the various USC's MEUs but wearing the UCP uniforms and with some ROKA support units) fighting against themselves once again in the WiC world this time with the battle-space emphasis being put on defending frontlines. A great deal of care and work was put into the coding of the whole mod which is IMHO it's biggest feature. There are quite sophisticated networked artillery systems, PAC-3 Patriot missile batteries C&C systems simulation and a system of arty call-in via infantry. All of this was coded into the game through the Python programming language. The entire way of fighting the battle was changed and made more deadly, more reliant on logical units placement and on determined orders rather than on massing tanks onto perimeter sectors.
Many people say this is the mod that makes WiC alive today and I agree with them. This mod is about the science of warfare and it does portray nicely how could a battle between the two major armies end up in the modern world. Download this mod if you are looking for a modern combat mission simulation-like gameplay and if you are especially looking to learn some useful infos about the military hardware!
