We have now released Update 3 (R3) version of Open Beta. It is required to play online on multiplayer.

Users of the existing/previous Open Beta DO NOT have to download the whole installer again! Instead, use the "Upgrade/Patch" installer links below:

New Features

Russian Faction Specific Changes
  • Removed Remote Controlled Cruise missiles.
  • Added new ballistic missile launch system to replace the old cruise missiles - 9K79 Tochka (SS-21 Scarab), costs 3001 RP.
  • The ballistic missile is not player controlled, other than providing attack coordinate using special ability.
  • The ballistic missile uses passive IR sensor seeker during terminal re-entry phase. The missile seeker will light up the area with IR-band LOS and will lock onto enemy targets that are avaialble. If no enemy units are found in the area, the missile will self-destruct and strike will be cancelled.
  • Caveat: Due to game engine limit contraints, you may see other units such as SHORAD missiles and AAA guns trying to shoot at the sky where ballistic missile is entering. However, despite that, the missile cannot be shot down by these units. All bullets and munitions fired by these units against the ballistic missile are simply ignored by the server.
  • Only certified anti-ballistic missile (ABM) defense systems such as PATRIOT or S-300 can shoot down and destroy a ballistic missile before re-entry.
  • Reduced the minimum engagement range limitation of S-300 Heavy SAM by 22% to lessen its vulnerability from cruise missiles.
  • Improved S-300's 9M96 missile engagement performance against incoming cruise missiles at lower altitudes.
USA Faction Specific Changes
  • Remote controlled cruise missiles are now spawned using dedicated ground launch platforms for Air role. Mobile launchers are 3001 RP each and have recharge time of 60 seconds per missile spawn order.
  • Note that cruise missile can only be spawned in near vicinity of the launch platform. Once the missile has spawned, the player has to then select the missile and manually guide it onto his target. The missile can be intercepted by AA while en route.
  • Replaced B-52H carpet bombing tactical aid with B-1B bomber dropping cluster munitions.
  • Removed Daisy Cutter tactical aid.
  • Added 'Sensor Fuzed Weapon' (smart cluster munition) tactical aid.
  • Added Ballistic Missile Defense (ABM) capability to PATRIOT SAM.
  • MIM-104 PATRIOT missile projectile specifications re-written to simulate PAC-3/ERINT specifications. The MIM-104 missile now uses kinetic hit-to-kill with smaller HE effect, instead of huge/large HE warhead like before.
  • Removed offensive ability on PATRIOT SAM as cruise missiles are not used any longer by Russian faction. PAC-3 is now universally used for both anti-air and anti-missile roles.
Other Changes
  • Fixed a server bug where some small caliber bullets could pierce the front armor of M1A2 Abrams MBT. This bug only existed on Massgate multiplayer, not on LAN.
  • Upgraded skin textures for various mechanized units.
  • Increased the length of carpet bombing tactical aid (for all factions) by 150%.
  • Increased tactical aid cost of carpet bombing to 55 TA.
  • Re-ordered the tactical aid list in the order of less destructive to more destructive TA's, to make it easier to see.
  • Defensive Attack Helicopters no longer auto-acquire their targets. Player must manually order the unit to attack in order to launch the ATGM.
  • Increased movement speed of Heavy SAM and Fire Control Radars from 7.5 to 10.
  • Added as_Hillside, do_Canal, do_Powerplant, do_Quarry, do_Vineyard to multiplayer server map rotation.
  • All unit-based missiles (ballistic and cruise) are now limited to 1 launch platform per player.
  • Disabled single player support to eliminate confusion amongst new players.
