White Night - An Amnesia: The Dark Descent Total Conversion Mod
What if one day, you wake up as a patient in a hospital, without any memory of yourself?
What are you going to believe? Or... Who are you going to believe?...

White Night is a total conversion mod for Amnesia: The Dark Descent; and focuses on mostly storytelling.

This is an old-school type thriller. Although it's not mainly a horror game, it'll have its scares; and will offer beautifully designed levels in an old-fashioned asylum with various puzzles to solve. You will discover what happened to David, what he did, and why the mod is called "White Night". But, how are you going to be sure what's been told you, or what you see is the truth?

Hi all;

It’s been more than 2 and a half years since the last update. I know I left here alone and dead, but I was working on different things which I think you'll find exciting.

I’m very glad that many people played White Night, made countless Let’s Plays with hundreds of thousands of watches, gave numerous feedback and support.It’s time for good news:

White Night is Published as a Book!

I wrote White Night’s story as I progressed making the game, and in the end it became more than I imagined. I was aware that things were too abstract at some points, but still, the story made sense and was immersive. I decided I’d give it a shot, turning it into a book as I had been writing stories for too long and some of them were already published in local magazines many times.

I tuned down the symbolism, removed puzzle sequences, added some never-seen-before scenes (like the encounter of Dr. Patrick, Sofia, and infamous childhood of David); and while writing, David gained himself a character that surprised me.

And here it is. Yes, I'm Tansel Altınel:

Unfortunately printed book is Turkish only and there is no real plan for English version. I’m hoping for an e-book version in the near future featuring both languages.

New Game: Paralycid

More exciting news is, I’ve been working on a new game, called Paralycid. With the experience from White Night and feedback from you, a better game with better storytelling is on the way. I’m now working with a team, Team From Beyond.

Paralycid is a story oriented horror/puzzle game we, as Team From Beyond, are making. It's been nearly a year since we started, and nearly half a year building things around, we are finally able to show something public.

Because it's Arkham re-arranged, which is the location in Love-craftian lore of quite abit of hell, but you can't really just re-use that name, and alot of idiots think it came from the comic books and whatnot.

Hamark sounds ominous also, though not alot of thought put into that. :P

Oh, I didn't see that.
Although I'm a really big Lovecraft fan, for this story, I have no direct Lovecraft reference, or not even indirect. The fact is, linking something to Lovecraft or writing a Lovecraftian story needs great talent.
Though, I have another scenario, which is heavily Lovecraftian, that I might start building into a game after I finish White Night. I was hoping to have enough experience with making this.

It's just a story at the moment, making it into a project will be hard; and I'm thinking to move into another game engine for that. If I can find the money to renew my computer, that might be CryEngine3

You should do it. I may be thinking abit to much here, but after the mod is released, you may gain some clout in the modding world and could use it to get a Team, and perhaps do a indie release, perhaps something along the lines of 10-15$ based on your idea, hmm hmm, and still use this Engine, perhaps? Ask Frictional to work out the details, such as distribution of profits. There are alot of source mods which offer 33% of their profits for a Source license to Valve and ship indie games.

I think you could do it based off the work we've seen here; of course, with a Team, a clear vision, and a project outline.

Inspired heavily by the shady atmospheres of psychological juggernauts of various pedigree, but perhaps no more so than by Session 9 or Jacob’s Ladder/Silent Hill, is an Amnesia total conversion mod titled White Night of which I had the pleasure of playing for the better part of the last two evenings for a total of about 3.5-4 hours of game play. White Night has a palpable atmosphere that makes you realize fully the depths of the human mind, and of the shadows hanging over us in our subconscious…

Thankfully this mod is nothing like Amnesia because that game was actually a joy to play. I really wanted to like White NIght, but the tedious controls, linear maps, inane storyline (with poorly-written English), and annoying character voices completely ruined this game for me.
