White Night - An Amnesia: The Dark Descent Total Conversion Mod
What if one day, you wake up as a patient in a hospital, without any memory of yourself?
What are you going to believe? Or... Who are you going to believe?...

White Night is a total conversion mod for Amnesia: The Dark Descent; and focuses on mostly storytelling.

This is an old-school type thriller. Although it's not mainly a horror game, it'll have its scares; and will offer beautifully designed levels in an old-fashioned asylum with various puzzles to solve. You will discover what happened to David, what he did, and why the mod is called "White Night". But, how are you going to be sure what's been told you, or what you see is the truth?

Are you ready for our session today? Don't worry, I'm here to heal your mind.

Hi all, it's been more than four months since White Night is released. Since that time, a lot happened; but most important one was to be Best Singleplayer in MOTY 2011. Thank you everyone, and thank you ModDB! Yeah, ModDB was quite helpful to me and to my fellow developers. Thank you.

Translations

In 1.1 update, I've fixed some bugs and added some new things to make it easier for inexperienced players. In this update I added three new languages: Portuguese, Spanish and Greek. I won't release standalone downloads for those languages. I put them in the main installation package, so all translations will be built-in. Credits to translations can be found in download page.

Desura edition is updated too. No other new content is added.

White Night Full Release v1.1

Soundtrack

It's sad that people don't read. Majority of people who have heard of White Night didn't even play it. A lot of people kept asking me about soundtrack, so I felt like a compilation of full versions of musics I used in White Night would be nice for those people.

Please note that I didn't compose these musics. If you want to check other tracks of these composers, their websites are:

Future Plans

A lot of people keep asking me about White Night 2; and here's my words:

THERE WON'T BE A WHITE NIGHT 2

If you think about it, you will see that David's story has ended and there is no logical way to continue it. I had ideas for possible expansions, like telling Dr. Patrick's and Sofia's pasts and motives, but the number of people who really were into story was quite low. So, if people won't bother understanding story, why should I bother telling more? I already have some long conversations with people who really wanted to understand what really happened; and those were quite enjoyable for me.

There are very few people who really got close, but still, no one got the story completely. At least, not the way I wrote. Everyone has their own interpretations, and that's the best part. Worst part is, those who don't even bother to read the notes and complain about how story didn't make sense. Let's Plays are not for understanding story, they are for fun.

Anyway, I'm already done with White Night and HPL2 engine. If anyone wants to follow my new works, here comes a new thriller from the creator of White Night:

I was a little concerned about downloading this because it tells you to back up your game just in case, as this CS changes a lot of files. Has anyone had any trouble? What is the best way to back up my game so I do not lose any progress in game, and in the CS/mods I am already playing?

White Night doesn't change any of the original files. It won't overwrite any of the other custom stories either.

Great CS! The story was brilliant and the gameplay was pretty awesome. The only things i would change is take out the bathtub puzzle or make it easier. I did finish it but it took a long time of randomly turning knobs. Second near the end where you have to throw bricks to uncover the pathways was dreadful, it totally sucked the fun out of the game. And lastly maybe add a couple more monsters. Other than that awesome!

I agree with the puzzles. And in version 1.1, I made those puzzles easier. For my next project I am tuning down puzzle difficulty, so no worries.
For the monster part, well, you will wish you haven't said something like that.

Inspired heavily by the shady atmospheres of psychological juggernauts of various pedigree, but perhaps no more so than by Session 9 or Jacob’s Ladder/Silent Hill, is an Amnesia total conversion mod titled White Night of which I had the pleasure of playing for the better part of the last two evenings for a total of about 3.5-4 hours of game play. White Night has a palpable atmosphere that makes you realize fully the depths of the human mind, and of the shadows hanging over us in our subconscious…

Thankfully this mod is nothing like Amnesia because that game was actually a joy to play. I really wanted to like White NIght, but the tedious controls, linear maps, inane storyline (with poorly-written English), and annoying character voices completely ruined this game for me.
