Western Quake³ is intended to be a semi-realistic simulation of the "Old West's" great atmosphere. This Total Conversion includes completely new weapons created with historically correct information about damage, rate of fire, reload time etc. It also includes new gametypes and maps inspired mostly from movies. And to increase the feeling of a "Gunslingers Atmosphere" we also have created music tracks and sounds adapted to the simulated times.

Development on Western Quake 3 was revived last May by a new team, under the name of Smokin' Guns. We are now proud to present the result, which is a patch containing numerous bugfixes and new features.

Western Quake 3 strives to recreate the atmosphere of the 'Dollar trilogy' of spaghetti westerns. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - they're all in there. Together with characters and mood from 'Once Upon a Time in the West', and others. Even Annie Oakley and Calamity Jane have been modelled.
Play deathmatch, duels, or bank robbery. Pick your favorite weapons among a historically correct selection of pistols, rifles, shotguns, dynamite, molotovs and gatling guns.

Now, this is interesting, because just last night, I got into a very distinctly western mood and started downloading any released mod I could find. But since I didn't have Quake 3, I had to sadly pass this one up.
Dammit, now I'm off to buy it.
Um, isn't Quake 3 open source? Don't think you need to buy it to play it anymore...
No the ENGINE is open source not Q3
We will start working on a standalone release of WQ3 soon. So stay tuned. The problem is that some of the maps are using baseq3 textures, so we have to replace them before we can release a completely free game.
This is great. Glad this old favorite of mine was revived.
wewt
heh i last played it in 2000 :{
I can promise you it's a lot better now. If you haven't even tried the release from 2003, you're in for a surprise.
yeah i haven't tried the 2003 release yet either
i remember back when there was a nude woman in a bathtub, and the match fire didn't even light up, and the trademark Good Bad n' Ugly themes playing every round!
