All right, I don't know if any of you have noticed that Portal 2 mod menus have the "Community Test Chambers" button no matter how many times you update mainmenu.res and pak01_dir. After browsing through the pak01_dir found in the "portal2_dlc2" folder, I found a text document in resource/ui/basmodui called "mainmenu_new.res". All you have to do to remove that seemingly invincible button from your mod menu is make a copy of your "mainmenu.res" in the same directory it's currently in and rename it "mainmenu_new.res". Then, just update your pak01_dir. I HAVE TESTED THIS and it DOES WORK. If it didn't work, then you epic failed at following this tutorial's instructions. I will clarify some steps if necessary. Hope this helps you modders out there!
P.S. The "Perpetual Testing Initiative" is still in beta, so maybe Valve will fix this bug themselves later, but that might be a while so here's a fix right now.
Don't think it's a bug, sometimes developers change a name of something, making the older version of the file that is diffrently named completely obselete, for example, in civilization 3, when Conquests came out, a new version of the "Industrial_background" came out, which was renamed to Industrial_background_new.pcx ,making the original file obselete.
Yeah, it's probably not
There, changed the name.
I have an edited mainmenu_new.res AND mainmenu.res in <mod name>\resource\ui\basemodui AND I have a pak01_dir folder outside the mod folder, and the menu STILL LOOKS THE SAME! Please tell me what I'm doing wrong!
Btw, that's me.
