Damocles Gulf will be a story driven Tactical FPS based on the Tabletop board game Warhammer 40k. I would like to make the game more tactical than the other 40k FPS games out there (firewarrior).

You are the Commander Ritter of the mysterious mercenary group 'Forgotten'. Commanding the mechanized 'B' company you are fighting on the side of the Tau against the ignorant forces of the Imperium.

The Imperium have gravely mistaken the Tau for weak fighters, and at a huge cost to them. It is time to hammer home that point and drive the Imperium out of Tau space. For the Greater Good.

I expect the mod to last 5-6 Chapters each on a planet from the campaign.

Myself, I'm just a artist and story writer with a little experience of modding, so please send me a note if you are interested in helping. I need:

If you have experience with Warhammer 40k (the tabletop game) it would help but if not I will be glad to educate you.

First of all: I love Warhammmer40.k and i love the tau.
But this Mod looks like a 5 minute idea of an 13-year-old kid trying to make a big game after reading the first tutorial.
If i'm wrong, i'm sorry, but the made-with-mspaint looking "concept arts" told me this.
Finally I will track this mod, and if I'm wrong with my first view i will help you, of course, making this mod to the greatest w40k fps ever ;)

This is what i thought too myself and i have put the Mod on hold for awhile until my Junior Cert (The Irish state examination) is over because studying for that memory test takes up a lot of time. Also i want to develop my skills further as an artist and work on a couple of maps first.

I hope to get started again as soon as the summer starts and all through the school year after that. Thank you for your evil comment as i actually appreciate it a lot more than the encouraging ones. Cheers

Yo Homies. Thought i'd let you know that I've started playing firewarrior again to get some ideas. What a trip down memory lane! Forgot how fun it was shoot guardsmen, besides the fact it looked like it was in slo-mo but whatever.

nice, hehe it took nearly a year before i completed the game, i was at the last boss, and then after 11 months i tried again and finished it, was easy as hell :P and i did it on the playstation 2, castlevania for playstation 2 took 1-2 years to finish until i figured out to finish it :P

Hey Guys thought you might find this interesting

I recently bought the 'Infantryman's Uplifting Primer Damocles gulf edition'
It spins loads of crap about the tau saying that

"Tau have udders, short tails above the base of the spine, and they excrete enormous amounts of methane, especial when stressed....Tau are herd creatures and panic easily. Their usual response to stressful situations is either to wail and lie face down on the ground with their hands on their head, or run around in circles hoping to confuse their aggressor,"

But isn't it the Guard who need 20-30 men plus command squad and a support team to make just !!!1!!! troop choice and the tau have 6 fire warriors to make 1.

Dunno if you've ever heard of the Gue'vesa. They're also known as the Tau Human Auxiliaries. They're actually the humans that were left behind or captured in the Damocles Crusade after the Imperium withdrew.

Just a little back story. (yeah bear with me I play 40k Tabletop as the Tau, its my business to know these things.)

Damocles was just a world that the Tau Water Caste had traded with that was part of the Imperium. The Administratum was concerned about the Xenos contamination and a hundred years later they launched the Crusade. This was really their first encounter with the Tau on the field of battle and they were unprepared for the level of resistance that the Empire put up. The Imperium took a few outlying settlements until they got closer to the actual sept worlds. On Dal'yth they came together and fought for months until the causalities were so high that the Imperium started PEACE TALKS (LOL thats unheard of!) with the Water Caste.

The peace talks succeeded mostly because of the low chance of victory and the 'Nids with Hive Fleet Behemoth approaching Imperial space.


....Anyway point of that being the Imperium didn't really have solders on Damocles before the Crusade started, it was just a small colony world that the big wigs decided that the Xenos were a threat, as usual so they needed to be dealt with. That's my two cents, love to help out if at all needed.

Hey Dude really helpful thanks. If you want to help, no bother, I'll sign ya up. On the note of the mercs, the guys you play as in the game are very shady and I don't want to give away too much. There not former Imperials and the Imperium don't know they exist.
