Warcraft Total War Alpha 1 Release

Features the Azeroth campaign map with seven factions (Lordaeron, Quel'Thalas, The Scourge, The Horde, Theramore, Night Elves, Burning Legion) using vanilla unit rosters as placeholders.

It has been over 3 years since I first began this project. Since then, team members have come and gone, significant progress was made and some was devastatingly lost. I myself have gone from knowing nothing about modding to being in a position to release this early, working build of the Warcraft Total War mod. This alpha 1 release is basically a campaign map demo with the factions using vanilla unit rosters as placeholders. Going forward, we hope to make incremental improvements and additions to the mod and release these updates accordingly. For now, enjoy this early build of Warcraft Total War.

Requirements:
- a clean installation of Medieval 2 Total War patched to 1.3
- a clean installation of the Kingdoms expansion patched to 1.5

Download Mirrors:
Moddb.com
Mediafire.com

Instructions:
1. Download and unrar
2. Place the WTW folder in Medieval 2 Total War\mods
3. Run the .bat
4. Enjoy!

The map is completely functional, with the only thing lacking is the smoothing of the coasts and some other little details, and soon all the faction character names will be implemented by me, and the faction symbols and campaign city/army banners are done (tough they could use some improvements). All the unit descriptions for the planned roster are done aswell, as are the faction descriptions.

We also have an idea of what the units will look like as we use wowmodelviewer to created "models" of the possibilities. So yeah, as I've said once, till summer the mod could be all done, except for the unit models.

Maybe you should use skins from normal total war and then patch in new ones... It would give you feedback about balancing, and you might even decide that you don't want a unit in the game because it's cheap, and remove it before making a new skin for it.

Or at least we'll try to, as our current modeller is just a beginner.
Really it's the thing we need the most. At this pace with no one offering to help I'm seeeing this mod being done in every other aspect, with the only thing missing being the units proper modelled and textured, plus the EDU.

Hm, any modellers out there that might want to give it a try?
Pretty please?

I gave a try this easter holidays at modeling, but I simply don't have enough time to learn damnit. Only in summer, and even then, it won't be enough to do something great. We really need someone that knows.
