The Unofficial Patch is not really a mod, but while the default basic patch only fixes bugs, the optional plus patch restores a lot of hidden content, including new quests and new maps!

Get it from Patches-scrolls.de (Germany), Patches.planetvampire.com (Canada) or Patches2.planetvampire.com (France).

This time the setup has been changed, so now the patch will install itself into a subfolder of the main game directory called Unofficial_Patch and you need to start the game either via the desktop icon or start menu entry or manually using the classic Source mod -game parameter. That way several mods can easily be installed parallel on one vanilla game version! Thanks for this go to Behar, who not only created the Game Mod Loader but included all previous dll fixes into it as well!

The patch also includes two new maps, the Malkavian Maze and the Warrens Shortcut. Special thanks go to Psycho-A for the continuous improvement of the Bloodline SDK which made creating maps possible in the first place. Thanks also go to EntenSchreck who supplied me raw drafts of both maps which I finished in Hammer, to Psycho-A and atrblizzard for optimizing them in several ways and the two older new maps too, and last not least to No_Mercy, who showed no mercy at all discussing each minor detail in all of the new levels that could be improved ;)! And as always to my beta-testers...

Hiya Wesp! First of all, amazing job! You guys are awesome! Secondly, I was wondering if you would be able to implement the blood textures from the Antitribu mod somehow? Perhaps you could borrow their's or maybe create new ones?

I don't even know what you mean by blood textures, can you explain?

Sorry, I'll be a little more precise. What I mean is the blood splatter when you shoot, stab, slice, etc. an enemy. (In hindsight, Blood "texture" was a poor choice of words)
The Antitribu mod has a very good looking splatter effect. When an enemy is shot, a splash sprays across the walls, or when an enemy gets sliced up with a blade, the splatter even looks like it is running down the walls. I thought that it might be a nice addition to the unofficial Patch if you could work it in :)

Hm, I don't know if I really want to do that. The Antitribu Mod is all about fighting, but the original Bloodlines wasn't and I think the old blood splatters are enough...

No problem, it was just a suggestion and you are the ones actually working on the mod :P

I agree that Bloodlines isn't about the combat, more the story and atmosphere. I find it funny, however, that the game turns into a bit of a hack-n-slash near the end. Not sure if I love or hate that.

Well, good luck with the modding! :)

I think Troika ran out of time and Boyarskij even said that he considers the warrens section as much too long! So what I don't like about the ATM is that they adde more fights to places where they don't belong, like at the Ocean House.

You can only combine the patch with texture mod, in that case it should be installed first just to be on the safe side. As for the two additional plus checkboxes, don't check them if you want the full experience. They revert some stuff...

Damn, I really like the Malkavian Maze section, was it something cut from the game or something of your teams own devising?

P.S
*Spoiler, Maybe*
Also was there anything else in the light filled mausoleum other than the gold ring?
It seems like such a beatiful room just to house a single piece of treasure.

We don't know how far Troika got with the Malkavian Maze, but there were three screenshots and two concept arts that we build it after, as well as a lot of unused textures and stuff.

As for the mausoleum, no, the ring is all there is, because putting much more there would make the Maze the much better way compared to the other one and I didn't want to do that...

Either way I'm impressed at you work and the multitude of things/features you've restored.
Considering it's been over a decade since it's launch and there's no sign of a sequel on the horizon, have you guys ever considered expanding the game beyond its original design? (Probably keep it as a seperate project)
I don't know if there are any mods that add a significant amount of totally new content, but you guys look like you have the skills to pull it off.

We are right now discussing if we could probably make a sequel or prequel with the way the SDK has improved...

Exactly what AmericanCrime said: "AN essential Bloodlines patch/mod. It fixes almost everything inherently wrong with the vanilla game and aims to enhance the experience as well by restoring content. Highly Recommended!!!!!" This is the TRUE patch for any loyal fan of the game. There is absolutely no reason to not use this patch over any other patch, that claims to be, 'official'. All the mods for the game, use this patch as their foundation & regularly update to work alongside this masterpiece…
