For over a year now, Víkingr has been hosting Shieldwall Events on the first Sunday of each month in an attempt to represent real 11th century infantry-based warfare as realistically as M&B permits. This month, however, the event will take place next Sunday, August 10th, which is a good reason to finally post an announcement here at modDB.

If you want to participate, there are special rules you should keep in mind:

  • Players must keep to their faction's shieldwall: you are in the Shieldwall Event, so be a part of it.
  • Players must listen to and obey their commander's orders, not their Clan or Group leader. Leaders are chosen for their knowledge and experience, so their droning voices are actually words of wisdom and must be followed.
  • Do not flank! We are here to simulate 11th century shieldwalls as much as the game mechanics can allow. Thus, flanking can ruin this aspect of the event and so is not allowed. Flanking is dealt with severely.

Just change the class limits as they are listed far down on the admin panel, if you set all of them to 100 you should be able to take every class.

Being a longstanding MM player, pretty much since when they started the mod, i must admit i'm a bit dissapointed by Vincenzo and Lord_Olafson's reactions on this page. I renember MM's less glorious times, the ones i cherish the most, where Lcatt, Dante, Atkivir, Dale and a few other players still played the mod while it had all but died down, on some evenings where there were more then 20 players online it really was -ALOT- for us and we were all happy. Then came MM Waterloo, and all of the sudden…

I totally agree with what Vincenzo said, the mod is totally buggy, I remeber alot of rigging bugs as well as missing AI meshes. When I destroyed a house, the house model didnt change (wtf!) it was still the same, I couldnt see any difference between the destroyed and the not destroyed model. Second time I destroyed a house, I was kicked over the whole map, and I died when I hit the ground.... Also the bots which spawn when a house is destroyed are annoying, most of the maps dont have a AI mesh…
