T he third BETA release of VLM is now available for download! Included in this release are numerous fixes, improvements to the installation process and a few additional mod packages.
For this release I've listened to the feedback received regarding the installation of the mod packages, and as a result I've now included additional descriptions and notes for each mod package, to which can be accessed directly from within the mod manager itself. Additionally you'll find links to screenshots and / or videos that show off the particular mod package if they are available.
A while ago I showed off the screenshot above and mentioned some of the additional mod packages found in VLM that aren't related to weapon load-outs and in particular improve your character appearance.
First of all in this release you'll also find a copy of Abvex's MASS-ively EFFECT-ive COLOR-palette mod, which I've received permission to include. This is a great mod that adds hundreds of additional armor tints for you to customize your armor with. The color palette mod included in previous versions of VLM has been removed and I will not be continuing its development.
Secondly if you look at the far right of the above screenshot, you'll see that the other N7 armor has been added to the armor selection. In VLM you can either choose to select it as a Full-Body Armor or customize it with shoulder pads and helmets etc. If you want, you may also remove your shoulder-pads, to which can look good under certain combinations. Adding additional armors is merely a test for now, I'm aware other mods have produced similar results - but if this checks out bug free and works properly for all users then I will be expanding to it in the future.
I've been a bit tight for time with this release as I have a backlog of other projects I need to finish first, so not everything I wanted to include is included. A few additional weapons mods and improvements will be released later on, probably next month some time when they are completed. Remember this mod is still in BETA, so please continue to post your feedback and / or bug reports. In the mean time enjoy V1.2!
There are a few other changes and improvements I’ve not covered in this news post, so check out the change-log for further details. You can download VLM V1.2 [BETA3] here.
If you encounter any problems then let me know and I'll try and fix it in a later release. Also please give this mod a rating here and if you want to post any detailed feedback then you may use the VLM forum board here.

having a bit of an headacke here. Is there any way to merge my custom .ini with your mod.ini into one ini file?
As of now I got to choose between either one...
Yes its possible, depending on what sections are modded in your edited Coalesced.ini.
To do this simply install VLM as usual and then fire up the included mod manager. In the Mod manager Click on the second tab, "INI editor". Click Load --> "Other Ini" and select your modded Coalesced.ini. After loading the file simply click "Create Mod" and give it an appropriate name.
If you then restart the mod manager or refresh the mod list it should then load up on the list with the name you gave it.
If your custom .ini doesn't mod any of the sections required by VLM mods, then you can activate both at same time and it will work fine. If not you'll just have to make some manual changes to make it work.
looking good! sadly i dont have a credit card to buy those DLC :(
I don't own the promotional DLCs, yet I can play the mod just fine. You won't get the unlockable weapons, but otherwise it should work.
Give it a try.
I am working on a 'LITE' (i.e. non dlc) version that will be out with V1.1 (this will include the free DLC only). But as 'JohnnyTheWolf' said, it does appear to work fine at the moment if you don't have the promotional DLC installed for example.
I've added shield/armor changes, which will be in the next release. This prevents armor from regenerating, and gives AI shields simular in behavior to the player. I haven't really played any other ME2 mods so I don't know how this will compare to them.
I've also reduced the disappearing corpses, they only disappear out of camera range and special circumstances (which prevents against any collision based game crashes). There are a few other changes I've made that I'll write up in a news post sometime.
Already in V1.0 are more than just weapon based changes, but nothing that effects gameplay or progression. Stuff like giving a range of extra casual clothes, more armor tints and improving the graphics. In V1.0 anisotropic is now 16 on the highest graphics setting, plus high poly characters are used globally (not just cut scenes), there are other changes such as enabling trilinear, improving shadows etc.
Huh, what? I think there might be a misunderstanding here. I didn't specifically ask you to merge your mod with Flash's; I just wanted to know how to do it, so I could do it myself as a personal project.
No misunderstanding, I'm just playing round with a few shield & armor settings out of curiosity myself lol - Nothing to do with merging any other mod at all.
Ah, good to know.
Anyway, I noticed a couple of bugs with the current version. For some reason, every teammate's default loadout is two Incisor Sniper Rifles (one in each slot). It's a bit problematic during the first two levels, because you don't have access to the armory; Wilson will carry an Incisor instead of a pistol, and Jacob and Miranda will do the same during Freedom's Progress.
It isn't a big deal, but it's a bit annoying and silly.
Silly bug, but so far it looks like I've fixed it - I believe the problem was to do with the the category names I assigned to the squad mates not having the same name as the category containing default weapon assigned to them. I've played through the fist couple of missions and wilson, jacob, miranda all have the correct weapons so I would imagine all other squad mates are the same.
