UT40K: The Chosen Although 40K players and other Mod Teams may not have herd about us, we have in fact been going on, for quite a while. The fact that a ModDB page was never set up for us has only just been brought to light. We are a small but dedicated team, devoted to bringing the universe of Games Workshops Warhammer 40,000 to it's full glory, using the UT3 engine. While we have been toiling in the shadows, we have actually managed to release a Number of Public Betas over the last year and improve on them with each upgrade. We are devoted to remaining as close to the publish code rules as we possibly can, to the point where we have implemented both the JAM system, for the Terminator Assault Cannon, and a fully functional vehicle damage system, complete with Front, Side and Rear armour values and features all of the ways of disabling a vehicle (e.g. Crew Stunned, Weapon Destroyed, Immobilised and all the others) We have two mostly functional races available; The Imperium's...

Hey guys worked on this building for most of this weekend. Have taken it into the UDK several times, the scale seems fine with the UDK player, so hopefully our player models will fit good too. Anyways here is the building, so far its at 2800 triangles.

Anyways i have a question. Seeing as calderis is a feudal world, it has no electricity/power right? So i was wondering, how can i get my people to the top of the tower? My original idea was to have a lift, but without electricity that idea seems unrealistic. So i was going to just have either spiralled or right angled stairs, what do you guys think? Also, should i add a floor to this building?

use a ladder as i think the stairs would take up to much space

Hmm yeh i had a go at ladders, after following ravens tutorial, and i cant seem to get it to work. I can jump onto the ladder only, so that he is just staying in mid air, yet as soon as i press a key he falls down. Any ideas? Does it have to be up against BSP? Coz mines not, its not up against anything, not even the wall of this building.

make sure you set the wall direction, and place it against a mesh or bsp
size min 128x128

Ok yeah i got one to work against a wall of bsp. So i need to make a ladder mesh of minimum size 128x128?

no the ladder volume needs to be 128x128, the mesh can be smaller , just to show where the ladder is

Oh, so is that size the length and the width? Or the length and the height? Or what?

Oh ok thanks a heap geodav. So wouldnt it be better to have a mesh 128x128xX then as it would look weird if you were climbing up nothing? And also, what are the rules for intersection for a ladder, can it intersect the floor/wall/ceiling etc?

the mesh is just there to show where the ladder is, as for intersections no idea

Yeh but if the volume is a lot bigger than the mesh, doesnt that mean you can climb off the side of the mesh?

Nevermind i sort of got it to work, it shouldnt be a problem. Well time to add a floor, unwrap it, and then normal map it :)
