US Intervention (USI) is a modification based upon the Persian Gulf War in 1991 where about half a million US troops fought among other allied forces to liberate Kuwait from the Iraqi forces. The mod was originally created for Battlefield Vietnam. We felt that Battlefield 2 would be a better alternative so we started building there. The first release came out in May 2006 with a lot of content. In the same month a hot fix was released after a new patch was created for BF2. Every new release is meant to build upon the previous release adding more vehicle, maps, game modes and overall environment. Version 2.0 is due out soon with 83 different weapons firing 33 types of ammo, 76 vehicles, and 18 levels to battle on. Realism is a key factor this mod follows in the creation of the content. With some real and possible events being portrayed in every map. The battles have been evened out to give both sides a chance of winning. Teamwork is the key.

Progress Report on the final USI installment. We hope to post more news soon.

As many fans know, the USI Dev team has dwindled in number of active Devs. However work still continued, even at a slow pace. Due to the slow pace, fewer news updates went out. But now, The USI Dev team brings you this news update as we begin to gear up for the final installment. USI 2.0 is showing signs of life once again. Today we bring you the AAVP-7A1 and the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior.

AAVP-7A1 (Personnel): This is the most common AAV, as it carries a turret equipped with an M2HB .50 caliber heavy machine gun, and a Mk19 40mm automatic grenade launcher. It carries four crew radios as well as the AN/VIC-2 intercom system. It is capable of carrying 25 combat equipped Marines in addition to the crew. It was heavily used in the 1991 Gulf War. AAV-7A1 (formerly known as LVT-7) is a fully tracked amphibious landing vehicle. As of now it will take 2 to operate. The driver will drive the vehicle while looking out for the enemy to spot for the gunner. An all new hud was made for the gunner. BSS Devs involved are [R-DEV]motherdear, [R-DEV]Rhino, [R-DEV]Matrox, [R-DEV]Hauteclocque, and Guedoe.

The OH-58 Kiowa is a family of single-engine, single-rotor, military helicopters used for observation, utility, and direct fire support. The OH-58D (Bell Model 406) was the result of the Army Helicopter Improvement Program (AHIP). An upgraded transmission and engine gave the aircraft the power it needed for nap-of-the-earth flight profiles, and a four-bladed main rotor made it much quieter than the two-bladed OH-58C. The OH-58D introduced the distinctive Mast-Mounted Sight (MMS) above the rotor system, and a mixed glass cockpit, with traditional instruments identified as “standby” for emergency use. The Kiowa Warrior has a single 70mm (2.75 inch) rocket pod and a .50 Caliber (12.7mm) machine gun. We also have 2 other versions, one with rocket pods on both sides and another with just hellfire missiles. The pilot fires the rockets and guns while the copilot spots for him with the MMS. The copilot fires the hellfires on the 3rd version while locking onto targets using the MMS. BSS Devs involved are [R-DEV]Rhino, EoDTrahnLee, Guedoe, Meerchi, [R-DEV]Pride, [R-DEV]Z-trooper, Wolfi and [R-CON]Spush.

USI 2.0 is content locked and final preps for release have started. Like every other release, we will hold another Frag Fest event in order to stress test the mod for public release. Details will come as we close in on finishing up this awesome mod. As it stands now, we have 15 stationary weapons, 67 handheld weapons, and 70 vehicles to play with on 20 different levels (all bot supported). We hope to send out more news updated as we fix this final build up for our fans. A changelog will come soon so you can get a heads up on all the fun players will have.

We also want to wish all Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year….

The aavp is a PR model, since I helped with the first few exports and code, USI got a copy. The Kiowa is a USI model, PR got a copy for fixing the cockpit and cockpit texturing. Stop by BSS sometime and see how many mods for different games help each other out :)
