How to modify a bank account statement Thread - Uplink OS mod for Uplink - Trust is a Weakness

I've been trying to figure out how to modify a bank account statement but I keep receiving an "Access Denied" error when I try to use a Log_Deleter V4.

Oh, you need to either bypass or disable the proxy, all banks have that. Disabling the proxy is the cheaper way but a trace will start immediatly after you start disabling the proxy with an app called "Proxy_Disabler", while with "Proxy_Bypass", which is more expensive, no trace will start when you use it, but you will also need to buy a HUD update. I don't remember its name right now, but... I think it's "HUD_Security_Screen" or something. Banks usually have a level 5 Proxy system, if I am not mistaken.

Also, I don't think this is the right place to post that. This would fit better the "general discussions" since it's not actually a bug.

Unfortunately this is a bug. The Proxy Disabler still doesn't allow you to make changes. The general thread that spawned this thread is here: Moddb.com

Yes, it's a bug introduced in this version (097). That means no more bank frauds for you... sniff.

I've already fixed it last night and will try to release a new version a bit more quickly than the last one.

It seems I am still not able to delete logs from the bank. I made sure that the proxy was down and there was no firewall.

Ok, so I just accidentally discovered that I can too delete bank logs too which is great.

However it might still be either a bug or a mechanic I didn't know about that caused me not to be able to delete bank logs. On my screenshot above I used proxy disable and no monitor software and could not delete the logs, plus I did it three times on two different banks to be sure. Today I used proxy bypass and monitor bypass which allowed me to delete the logs.

Now that I have money I will do further testing to see if it is because of proxy disable.

I got to test it last night with the proxy bypass and it didn't work for me. However, I did manage to find what the problem is - the checking of the user's privileges.

Because I introduced/fixed the readonly & readwrite accounts, I had to keep logs from being deleted on those accounts. I did that by checking that the player is logged in with admin privileges and no less. This meant that when you log in into a bank account, that account has the same privileges as the readonly, hence not being able to delete the logs. Now, I tried fixing it by checking the log type, so if it's a regular log, check for admin privileges, if it's a bank log, don't, but apparently not all bank logs fall into those types, that's why you can delete some, but not others.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to fix it last night and will be away from the project this weekend, but I'm hoping to fix it ASAP, once I'm back and release a new version

It seems that normal bank logs are able to be changed and the ones that can't are the uplink monthly fee ones. In normal gameplay you don't really have a reason to change these but at the time I was testing to make sure it works before doing a transfer. I didn't think there was a difference between logs but I guess you learn something everyday.

I can not understand why all this is no longer work at my mac. This may be due to incorrect settings in the proxy (advanced.name if matters)?
