After 2 years of work, UplinkOS has reached its final, Gold version! I’d like to thank everyone who reported bugs and suggestions, I couldn’t have done this without your help!
NOTE: Do take in mind, that some changes need a NEW USER created!
NOTE2: If you're updating from pre-093, you need to clean the 'users' folder!
Installation
Inside the archive you'll find the UplinkOS executable, its resource files and the ReadMe.
In case you're like me and you don't read ReadMes, here's the installation instructions:
- Of course, you'll need the STEAM version of the game.
- After downloading the Mod, unzip it into a place of your choice.
- Go to Uplink's installation folder. In STEAM's case, the default is: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Uplink
- Copy the contents of the Mod's zip file into this folder.
- Go to the "users" folder. Back-up & move/delete all the files here.
- Back-up the original Uplink.exe.
- Rename UplinkOS.exe to Uplink.exe.
- Now just run Uplink from the STEAM interface and your ready to start hacking!
Even though this is the final version, if anything ugly pops its ugly head, please report it on the BUGS forum, here on ModDB. Thanks!

- Made apps' progress be affected by the Game Speed
- Fixed some issues with the Task Manager v2, where apps would appear doubled or a File Deleter app would appear without running
- Fixed an issue where some objects would be drawn before being updated; this removes some visual artifacts
- Made windows come to front when they're clicked
- Fixed a bug that caused some apps to start with their bases red
- Reworked the mouse pointer to remove some lag
- Made Allegro5 use OpenGL 3.0; this hopefully fixes most users' "Could not create the display!" error messages
- Fixed a bug that caused the red e-mail notification to not appear
- Fixed the Status/Finance window title
- Added a small sound when hovering over buttons
- Fixed a bug that caused only one song to be looped

Wow, I check UplinkOS cause I haven't in a while, and I find out 3 hours ago the latest version was uploaded haha, can't wait to try it. I think I am in the mood for some more bank hacking and note making :)

If you don't want to see it in-game, remove it from \data\gateways\

Very nice, thanks for everything ! I only wish someone could hybrid an Uplink mod that is this mixed with Outlink....just toned down a little...I had to give up on outlink when I had to crash a mainframe that required me to bring down the lifting server and backup server first, then I had to find and hack the admins personal pc only to get back to the mainframe to lock the system up by failing the VDPIN. I just loved how outlink added all the new parts and the DNS lookup. Other than that is was frustratingly difficult.

Ah yes, Onlink (I think this is what you meant, no?) is a totally different beast. What I know is that the same developer is working on a new hacking game, sort of a spiritual successor for it, so you might have that to look out for.
As for merging them, is not easily possible since both mods have extensive re-writing of the code... :/

Hey rodvil! Unfortunately, no, the mod is only available for Windows. I will try to bring it to other systems, but not in the near future, sorry.

I thought this was a bug, but I can't seem to be able to open locks on LANs, or I'm doing something wrong
Hey! Well, how did you try to open them? Using the LAN_Force app or by connecting to it's controller computer?
Regarding the LAN_Force app: unlike vanilla Uplink, locks have levels and so, you need the higher versions of the app.
I'm probably just too chicken to use LAN_Force, several LANs I hacked didnt have auth servers and I really don't know how to deal with the admin

Screen resolution is not changable, so i only have a block top left of my screen, can one cha ge the screen resolution?
OK got it, select windowed mode, then go to settings and then resolution can change, and select resolution you want, and then go back to full screen mode. Bang, whoop!! looking good , tnx for your hard work.
Sorry to hear you had problems with the mod. Unfortunately the same bug happens to some other users, but I can't really say what causes it. Fortunately, going to windowed and back fixes it. :)

I have the original version of Uplink bought from Intraversion. Can I apply the mod and if so which one.
the desctiption says mac is supported but I'm using steam and cannot get the mod installed.. can anyone give me instruction??

Will there ever be a Linux version of the mod? The mod download only contains a Windows executable and the read-me only contains install instructions relating to Windows.
