UnWheel is a driving modification for Unreal Tournament 2004. The idea behind UnWheel is not to create the ultimate racing game, or the 4x4 simulation with the best physics, or to specialise in any one area as other modifications and games do, but to simply create an assortment of gametypes and vehicles with the focus on fun driving, whether it be racing, rallying, or simply freestyle driving around.

Thanks to Unreal Tournament 2004's support for extremely detailed models, you'll be driving some of the highest quality cars and trucks available. Each vehicle has it's own distinctive handling, and thanks to the excellent in-game physics, they all react in their own way to every bump in the road and every corner they turn.

UnWheel really is a must-have modification for any driving fan, no matter what their preferred driving genre may be.

Hello and greetings to all from New Zealand!

This is an awesome modification, extremely professional, polished and innovative, and it has one more thing that makes it especially cool...

All while ago, I stumbled across this modification and said to myself; "this is cool" however, I had a small problem, so being hopefull, I sent the following e-mail:

"Congratulations on an excellent modification.

My problem relates directly to the fact that I have a physical disability. I do not have the use of my hands or fingers. I am fortunate however, as I have a device which allows me to control the computer by tracking my head movement. The system is very accurate and extremely fast and works very successfully. However, when it comes to using a physical keyboard I often have difficulties.
I am wondering if there is away, or can it be made possible, to have the keyboard commands for turning a vehicle left or right changed from the strafe left and strafe right keys to Mouse movement? thus, when I turn my head to the left the vehicle turns to the left and when I turn my head to the right the vehicle turns to the right. if it was possible for me to successfully and easily control the wonderful vehicles it would be simply amazing."

My message, was picked up by; NewB, who then, directed it to Shrimp. He informed me, that it was indeed possible and he would implement it in the next release.

well, the new release is out, and mouse steering is now available.

it is absolutely brilliant and I would like to say the following;

Being able to steer by mouse has for me, taken the game from; "I wish I could... the potential is huge ..." to; "far out, I can... it is everything I dreamed of and more!..."

many grateful thanks to Shrimp especially, and the rest of the Unwheel team.

Kind regards,

DJO :) ;)

Wow this is an old UnWheel page.

Lets see: Patriot AFAIK is not on the team, we have about 5 new members (including me), we ported to UT2004 and SVehicles. We added a new gametype (Big Air). There are tonnes of new maps, professional music by Josh "Strangelet" Grafton and tons of more vehicles and loads of stuff!

Stop by and download if you haven't already, and I'll go nag at Shrimp to update this page.

Oh and before anybody asks, yes there is a team-oriented gametype being developed (but if you nag too much maybe we won't release it :p)
