Unpredictable Effects is an expansion styled mod for Valve's first-person shooter Half-Life, that takes place in new areas around and outside the Black Mesa Research Facility area. The main place where the protagonist gets through is known as the "Black Mesa Border (BMB)". The area is known to be a semi-industry for steel. Although, that just answers the question "What is BMB?". No one from the BMRF including the Administrator, runner of the whole business, Wallace Breen, ever knew about its original purpose ever since It was built long ago. Until the protagonist, Timothy J. Wright, one of the facility's Survey Team, stepped in. It all started before the resonance cascade. The protagonist and few of his colleagues working in the Sector E Biodome Complex were shocked after hearing about the Anti-Mass Spectrometer experiment due to their beliefs in the Resonance Cascade. Sceptical or not, they never refused taking part in teleportations to Xen for samples. They gave up on convincing the Administrator and his loyalists to cancel the test because of extreme catastrophe, sadly. After the Resonance Cascade, the protagonist and few personnel escaped out of the research facility along with a small group of HECU rebels who were loyal to the Black Mesa team and with full respect, presented a little passenger jet for them to escape Black Mesa through the safest airline they could think of. Although the time they were in flight and located near the border, the nuke planted by the Black Operations went off and its shockwave took down the plane. The crash was indeed fatal, for the crew on board most. Few of them survived outside the cockpit, many parts of the plane were left slightly damaged, the landing impact resulted in their deaths. Now It's up to The Protagonist with the HEV suit to get going.
