Actually the blue light on this screenshot works better, since warm colors are considered to be safe, unlike cool/cold colors. The blue light also contrasts with the yellow of the antlions instantly guiding the players attention towards the dead antlion, giving notice of what to expect ahead.

I think the new revised corridor does look better. But the orange light comming from teh fire takes away attention of the important visual clues.

This might be an interesting read; "http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Color_theory_(level_design)"

Thanks for the feedback. This probably isn't the best example in hindsight as the player won't be looking at this scene from this angle. You will first see it from the starting room through the windows around the door so it will stand out from your current location, catching the player's attention early on and suggesting they should be heading this way.

When you actually reach this corridor you will be emerging from the hole in the floor and heading towards the 'camera', which will be a blue-lit area (incidentally the player should feel cautious moving to that area, so the warm safety of this corridor is actually more appropriate).

I appreciate the comments though!
