Hello there!

Underhell Chapter 1

*Make sure to completely uninstall Prologue before installing Chapter One, do not install on top!*

The game ONLY requires Source Sdk Base 2007 installed, no other source games are required.
(to avoid possible bugs/crashes)

Underhell has finally been Greenlit on Steam !

Underhell Greenlight

This is amazing news for the game and the team! This means that the 2013 version of Underhell will be released on Steam, when it's ready to go up there.
This means a lot of extra work for us, as we will have to create, replace and improve the assets of the game to make sure they are up to standards.

Speaking of which, as some of you might have noticed, Alex Voysey has been re-creating the weapons for the game, and we have been keeping you up to date with screenshots, here is the progress on the weapons so far:

As you can see, progress is smooth and steady in the weapons department, on the Programming side, progress is also steady as Charly Sotelo is working on porting the game to the Source Engine 2013, which will not only fix many issues with the engine, but also provide us with new features, such as moving leaves on trees, which should really improve The House visually.

Source Engine 2013 also adds Mac. and Linux Support, as well as Occulus Rift support.

Thanks to the Bug Reports and Technical Support thread we are still currently fixing many bugs or glitches with the game, in the hopes to deliver a bug-free game when it comes to Steam.
No release date yet, we are in the thick of it.

In other news, Pedro Calvo is working on Artworks for the game, more precisely a new ModDB page design, which will hopefully make this page look a lot prettier.
Here is a Work In Progress of what he is currently making:

If only the House looked that good ingame, maybe some day.

On a side note, Youtube user Colo118 has created a Fan Made trailer for Underhell Chapter 1.
It's the first Fan Made trailer created for the game, and it has some nice shots.

Also, the Underhell Chapter 1 Bonus Album can now be purchased!
It includes the Credits Song, the Hermit Song, all the trailer musics, as well as a few extras.

  1. Underneath this Hell (bonus) 05:35
  2. She Piano 1 (bonus) 00:50
  3. Waiting Trailer (bonus) 02:56
  4. She Piano 2 (bonus) 00:56
  5. Hermit Song (bonus) 01:42
  6. Trailer 1 03:00
  7. She Piano 3 01:34
  8. S.W.A.T. Tutorial 02:43
  9. She Piano 4 (bonus) 01:28
  10. Chapter 1 Teaser (bonus) 01:20

And finally, an update on the Russian and German translation patches. Beez-one and Beserkr have made a lot of progress, and it seems they are both under way, so hold on tight and we will soon be receiving a lot of players from the German and Russian communities! See you soon for future updates!

I wonder what Mxthe has in mind for the next chapter, after everything is pretty much settled around it's public release. Sure, it'll be a while but i'm curious to know what we could expect. More stealth? Perhaps a more dramatic story? Some of our old friends? No doubts here.

The Get a Life mod is essentially Underhell with worse quality. Here is the analogy in terms of Get a Life's events:

Prologue: Going to work, and then getting captured.

Chapter 1: Escaping from the mysterious facility and shooting the evil EVIS.

Chapter 2: Dealing with the zombie invasion of the city and assisting other survivors in the city when possible. You eventually leave the city.

Chapter 3: Finding the zombie apocalypse has entered the rural suburbs as well; you fight EVIS and zombies until you are knocked out on a ship.

Chapter 4: Investigating the zombie infestation at an EVIS base in the Arctic. Your PC starts hallucinating bad.

Epilogue: Setting changes from arctic to a more sci-fi look. You kill your evil clone, destroy the EVIS base, and run outside into the wasteland. The last scene shows the entire world being destroyed by zombies.

Hopefully Underhell's ending won't be such a downer.

I agree, it is essentially Underhell in terms of story - except nine times worse. Get A Life's story isn't really in-depth or well thought out, in my opinion, compared to Mxthe's Underhell. Underhell isn't just about the character, but the atmosphere and the story. From a little over a year of experience i've gathered.Underhell seems to have also taken inspiration from various other titles (i.e. FEAR, Silent Hill, Amnesia) as you will be assaulting, sneaking, running and even hiding from enemies.

Aside from the comparison, at this point I don't think Underhell's final moments are very close by - and even if they are, I think that there's a huge chance of it becoming a big success. Mxthe doesn't just toss in a few scares like some horror games, and send you off on your merry way. It starts out slow and the tension builds up on you over time.

Well, I think it's probable in underhell that the protagonist may die, I mean he's got psychotic depression and catatonia, so I can't really see a "happy" ending for him. Anyway they've been talking about multiple endings that will count on what you do throughout the other chapters.

The protagonist of Get a Life isn't shown dead, but it is assumed so. Presumably, Jake is going to die stranded as well.

Don't know about multiple ENDINGS, but multiple OUTCOMES during the future chapters Mxthe definitely has in mind. We'll see about it.

You're referring to Greenlight right? Sure, it's been published, but not released to the public. It's going to be a long time before Chapter 2 even starts development.

I meant releasing the game to Steam, being Greenlit and that are different things.

Underhell is one of those mods that comes along every so often, that makes you look at retail and remember when they used to make good games like this...and saddens you a little that the industry can't turn out gold like this these days. In a world of MMO's, Call of Duty FPS's, we get a classic game with a good story, incredible atmosphere, and depth to boot. Fun gameplay on top of that? This is a lovechild, and that is what makes it amazing. This is the result of someones vision come to life. They…
