Imagine the largest Warhammer40k scale battles topped with balance for all races. Can you imagine your enemies being nuked by your own superweapon, or steamrolling them with many titans fighting other titans with complete balance? Then this is your mod.
Not sure what to download? Or what to install? Or in what order? This is the place to look! An illustrated guide to installing the Grand Release.

Basic Installers.
A note on game versions and patches:
Ideally, you will want to have Soulstorm patched to 1.20
You can't patch to 1.20 directly. Patch first to 1.10, then to 1.20
Dawn of War patches must be in the same localization (language) as the game (English patches will only work on English installs, German patches only on German installs, Spanish patches only on... well you get the idea).
You could install the mod on an unpatched Soulstorm, but you won't be able to play multiplayer with most people out there, plus there may be some lolrandom errors not happening on 1.20
Steam-based installs of Soulstorm are already patched.
Note: The video applies to a previous version (1.71). A new video is on the works, will be posted after updating this tutorial. Hopefully tomorrow.
Before starting: This isn't the "only way" to install UA. As long as you install 1.7 before the patches, any install order should work. Follow the steps on this tutorial however, to ensure it will work.
To get the New Races and Campaign expansions to work, you will have to install three additional race mods: Inquisition Daemonhunt, Tyranids and Daemons.
If you're not interested on the New Races/Campaign expansions, skip to the big "INSTALLING THE ULTIMATE APOCALYPSE MOD" title in green letters.
Download Inquisition Daemonhunt mod:
GameFront - Filesmelt - JeuxVideopc (click on the "Télécharger" button)
Extract it:

Then select the folder and .module file named "inquisition_daemonhunt" ONLY. To keep an item selected while selecting another, hold the Ctrl key.

Move them to your Soulstorm directory. By default it is:
Retail default path = C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Dawn Of War - Soulstorm
Steam default path = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dawn of war soulstorm
Note: The "(x86)" on Program Files only applies for 64bit Windows. If you have 32bit Windows simply ignore it.
If you have Soulstorm installed in a non-default location (like seen in the picture below) then you know where it is.

You're done installing the IDH mod! Now...
Download the Tyranid mod version 0.5b2:
ModDB or NidMod site
After downloading the Tyranid mod, launch its installer.

The Tyranid mod installer is extremely simple to use, it automatically detects your Soulstorm installation directory so it shouldn't require any user input aside from mashing the 'Next' button.
Once downloaded, right click the file, select "Extract files..."

On the dialog window that appears, click the "..." button and browse for your Soulstorm folder

Then click "OK".
It'll take a few seconds and it's done.
If downloading from Mega, make sure you either use Google Chrome or install the Mega browser extension, otherwise the file won't be saved correctly as it is a bit over 100MB. Official explanation here.
Installing UA is pretty much as easy as the Daemons mod, but one little quirk:
Right click part ONE, then select "Extract files..."

On the dialog window that appears, click the "..." button and browse for your Soulstorm folder

Then click "OK".
It'll take a bit longer than Daemons though.
And the last step! We're almost there.
Download the Ultimate Apocalypse mod 1.72.5 patch:
Gamefront - Mega - Mediafire - Filesmelt
Note: If downloading from Mega, make sure you either use Google Chrome or install the Mega browser extension, otherwise the file won't be saved correctly as it is a bit over 100MB. Official explanation here.
This one is simple. Just run the exe file, and a "Extract to" window will appear. Browse to your Soulstorm directory like you did with Daemons and the Grand Release, click Extract, and done!
If images for this step are requested for some reason, I'll post some.
The installation process is done now (you can go play if you're impatient), but since this is such a nice guide, I'll let you into a nice tip to launch any mod directly (bypassing the Game Manager) and the intro movies as well!
Select your Soulstorm executable and make a shortcut to it. Sending a shortcut to desktop also works

On the just created shortcut, right click and select "Properties"

Something like this (or at least resembling this if you have Vista/7) should appear.

Add the following bit of code to the "Target:" field:
So it should look like this now (highlighted the important bit):

Save it. Now that shortcut will launch Ultimate Apocalypse: New Races directly (with no intro movies at all) when opened.
Of course, you can change the "UltimateApocalypse_NewRaces" bit with any other playable mod folder name, and tada! You now have magical shortcuts to any mod you've got installed.
How to install cameras on the commentaries. Coming sooo...me day with pictures. Oh, and cameras cannot possibly break the mod/make it not launch, that's just impossible (at least I'm missing something). In the worst case scenario you'll have a really uncomfortable camera setting.
How to install maps tutorial coming soon-er than the cameras tutorial at least. Lazy instructions only for now:
Download the Grand Release Bonus Maps from Gamefront
Download the Grand Release Bonus Maps from Mediafire
Download the Grand Release Bonus Maps from Filesmelt
Download the Grand Release Bonus Maps from Mega
Due to the sheer amount of files in this pack, I advise either using the "Extract to [folder name]" option on your archiver of choice, extracting inside an empty folder or extracting directly to the directory where they're supposed to go : \UltimateApocalypse\data\scenarios\mp
Launch UA (either Actual or NR) and the new/improved maps will be available for selection.
Tutorial finished!
Well this got authorized quickly :)
Also, I will add the following soon (but not today, tired):
-You're supposed to patch Soulstorm to 1.10 and then to 1.20 before doing anything.
-Tutorial for UA extra maps located here: Forums.relicnews.com
-And how to set up cameras (It's as easy as it could be. Just erase any .lua file with "camera" on the name (usually three of them) in BETA_Apocalypse\data, then copypasta the camera files of your choosing from \Apocalypse Mod Miscellaneous\Apocalypse Bonus Stuff\Cameras (pick a zip file, open it and the cameras are inside).
There, that's it. Please don't come and tell me THAT is difficult to understand :I
Bad explanation for IDH Objecting point regarding x86 in the pc, you mean remove it from comparability files to original SS directory. Sorry is really hard what you said there. I'm not even sure this is necessary? or what is the result of it.
And I'm having serious difficulty understanding what YOU meant :/
*re-reads tutorial*
Ahhh, I think I see what you mean now.
Yeah that part explaining the Soulstorm install paths isn't THAT simple. I'll rewrite it in a few hours, I've got some higher priority tasks (such as sleeping) to do.
After my research I understand what's going on. OS 32bits has 2 Program files one is the regular program files and the other is x86 program file.
If you have installed THQ in Program file and now you decide to use just one(x86), make sure delete everything at program file, otherwise if an empty THQ folder still remains an installation program will put folder & files on that empty folder and your mods will not go to x86.
This is the case for IDH.
I have soulstorm through steam and I can't figure out how to get the last part to work with it. Mostly because the shortcut goes through the internet instead of normal paths. I have been trying to get this to work for a while but I can't figure it out so I am now asking all of you people. Can someone help me please?
And yes I did post this befor but I am posting it here to in hopes of an actual answer.
>> OS 32bits has 2 Program files one is the regular program files and the other is x86 program file.
It is exactly the other way around.
64bit Windows (all XP, Vista, 7 and 8 have 64bit versions and follow this rule) have a x86 Program Files folder where software that hasn't native 64bit support.
"x86" alone is a rather ambiguous label as there's:
x86-64 (64bit),
x86-32 (32bit, what the "x86" in the Program Files folder indicates) and
x86-16 (16bit, good old times).
Why M$ didn't label the 32bit Program Files "Program Files (x32)" and used an obscure (and ambiguous) number instead remains a mystery.
THX for the info.
thanks ye for the help but i just gota say you have to be slightly... dumb... to not understand how to install any of this as its all explained in the files you download. still... thank ye all anyway =p
Extremely helpful, thank you.
This is QUITE a welcomed addition. :)
very good work !!!
Good Work !!
Im having trouble accessing the new races part. ive followed all of these insructions and when i load the new races bit in game manager it just says "Failed to activate requested game" any help?
i have the exact same problem and followed the instructions also.
Same here
Same here.
Whyyyyy. Why you reply to ye olde comments in the middle? I just see this.
If you did accurately follow the instructions then this shouldn't happen. As I can't know where each of you missed something, all I can do is to tell you to review the steps and track down where you might have omitted/misinterpreted something.
Thanks Lord Doofus I cant wait for the grand realse will there be more classes of titans for a nice sized engine war?
Wow. I was getting all excited about getting this awesome mod, and you just saved me from a cripplimg disapointememt. Just shows that you really take care of the fans out there.
Well, I updated this for the Grand Release. Hopefully somebody will notice it and get their questions answered with ease.

I did good in manually checking if there was new questions here, ModDB doesn't have an option to automagically notify me :I
You've got to right click and extract from part 1, with all other three parts on the same folder.
Use the 7-zip version linked on the tutorial or (didn't test it myself, but seemingly works) a recent version of WinRaR.

This has a very high chance of making a difference indeed. We found that the installer doesn't extract all the files correctly in some cases, leading to a high number of pink boxes and similar errors. The 4-part non-installer/zip version is free of this problem.
To "install" with the non-installer version, follow the instructions on the tutorial (basically select "extract files..." and on input your Soulstorm directory on the extraction path). IMO that's even easier than the installer xD

You can set up Bootcamp and run Windows within your Mac.
I don't have a Mac to test this myself but I read from numerous sources that it works quite fine for most applications.

Are you using the version of 7-zip linked on the tutorial?
I didn't try this in particular, but I'm told that a recent version of WinRaR should do the trick as well.

If you have also installed them all correctly, then the main possibility is that you have the 0.5b1 version of the Tyranid mod. For UA you need 0.5b2 (linked on the tutorial).

Glad I was of help, though the UA mod was more teamwork than anything.
I'm more of a general tasks guy, Cylarne (Lord Doofus) made most of the coding, Cosmocrat put some fantastic models together, RT2 made some awesome kitbashes, Gambit provided countless wonderful icons, and so on.
Check the full credits list Moddb.com to see who made UA possible :)
I have the Steam version, is that already at patch 1.2? because when I try to install the patch 1.10 it doesn't work.
The steam version should be 1.2
Hey Rocket, love your mod!
I'm having problems starting up the new 1.7 though
When i try to start the mod, it said "Failure to launch selected game"
I used the installer, and I'm trying now with the 4 part download ((Cant find a 7zip program that works >:/))
Would there be anyway to somehow group all these into one installer?
I know you might need permissions from the other modders, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind :3
It's NOT "my" mod lol (I wish I had a fraction of the required coding skill). I just made this tutorial and some other very simple stuff.
You need 7-zip? (I'm copypasta-ing this all over xD)
32 bit version: Dl.7-zip.org 64 bit version: Dl.7-zip.org
EVERYTHING (including the extra race mods) in one installer would not only get UA banned on Relicnews (it's also very active there, yet these forums have a way complicated rule set Forums.relicnews.com ) but it'd also make the installer... HOOOOOOGE.
And I can tell you never had the need of hosting something that size. It'd have to be split (defeating the purpose of this idea) as almost no file hosting service would take the job of hosting a single file of almost 1Gb in size. Not for free at least, and UA can't afford players having to subscribe to a file hosting service just to download the mod.
Dang I make long replies.
I have downloaded the 4 parts of the Grand Release and wanted to exctract it, I've used 7Z for years, so with 7Z ofcourse, but I keep getting an error. I've tried redownloading. Help?
Same here :/
same here
Gah I gotta check this place more often.
Are you using the (newer) 7-zip version linked in the tutorial?
Heck I'll link them here too
32 bit version: Dl.7-zip.org 64 bit version: Dl.7-zip.org

You mean, (as to be double sure) selecting all four parts, right clicking the >first< one and then selecting "extract"?
That REALLY should work :puzzled:

Did you use unaltered files (not repaired by WinRaR)?
If you did, I'm afraid it must be particular in your end, as I can't seem to be able to replicate this issue.
Again, I gotta check this place more often *facepalm*

I just updated the tutorial with information that should prove to be VERY useful.
This is also on the tutorial but, part 004 >is supposed to be smaller<, (a bit over 67 Mb). Much more info on this on the (updated) tutorial.
I'll try that as soon as i get home
