Ultimate Apocalypse Mod

News - February to Early March

It is time to let the public know that the mod is very, very close to its release. At this stage, the UA mod team is hoping to do something special because of it. Within this month or March (at the worst possible scenario), the second to the last alpha mod internal versions of the mod and so on will be caught on video and displayed to the public as we are in definite need of public feedback, and definitely some finely tuned views coming in. We will not mention where they are or where they will get posted, so if you want to see live videos of "The Hunt Begins" public videos, then it is up to you to find them! xD Note that they will be posted at random times with continuous slow or fast updates and at no estimated time of arrival. :D

But here is the bad news. It may be or may not be (depending on the audience) a 1.74 patch. The grand release of 2015 (The Hunt Begins) is close to release, that, making a patch for something that will only last like 15-40 days seems like a good effort to be placed within the grand release itself. Avoiding the confusion of the difference between what 1.74 is compared to "The Hunt Begins" would be good, too, but it is up to you guys if you want to deal with the balances of 1.73 versions until "The Hunt Begins" is released. I'm not saying 1.74 patch is cancelled, I'm saying 1.74 patch could be cancelled if the audience just wants THB and if the team agrees to stick with THB also. Up to you guys! Do you want a 1.74 patch or wait a bit longer?

In other news:

Competition - UA Official Logo

Is now officially our new logo and will be displayed everywhere possible upon the THB release. We are very glad to replace our old logo, and very soon, this will be applied as our official UA mod logo! You can see more details here:

or click on the image itself above!!!

We are doing the contest again, and we already have three other logo participants willing to publish their items in the future! You can be one of them! ;)

A gist of what we can promise you THB will bring:

  • Inquisition Daemonhunters
  • Chaos Daemons
  • New advanced AI for all races, including but not limited to: improved competence and for some races, tactics the player may not expect.
  • AI relic unit and titan fielding error is fixed
  • Some AI with multiple strategies
  • More strategies will be applied to all AI after the THB releases (patches as there is not enough time)
  • Way improved build order + build base strategies
  • Less AI city building (less structures fielded until they get loads of resources)
  • All other factions receive new content
  • All other factions receive greater and better polish better than 1.73 version factions
  • Better gameplay
  • More encouragement of capturing Strategic Points + Critical Locations especially
  • More balance
  • Changed up music
  • Changed up and fixed main mod theme
  • New extended gameplay
  • Less spamming of relic units and titans
  • Elite units cost more, especially more required population
  • Relic units cost more
  • Changed up relic resource in general
  • More winconditions
  • More maps
  • Fixed winconditions
  • More abilities
  • More units
  • More structures
  • More research
  • More addons
  • More races
  • More fun

Now let us talk about the THB release:

THB stands for "The Hunt Begins". It is a grand release of 2015, not a patch, and the version number will be much different than 1.74, we're talking around version 1.8. The Hunt Begins is all about the Inquisition Daemonhunt versus the evil and twisted Chaos Daemons! All factions will receive new content, and there will be so much added to it, that took us over a year (almost) to achieve.

We know we said that THB would not take too long to get released, but fortunately, it is another 1.73 release as it is BIG, and even includes two new factions to play! All races were further polished and made nicely, plus what THB will bring is pretty much finished skirmish and is the last and final skirmish overhaul. It is official.

Version 1.73 was supposed to be skirmish overhaul and final, but then over time, we realized the flaws of most factions, and so THB revamps them to an all new and fun style. We know you will like all factions, at least better than 1.73, and we hope to continue the campaign after this! :D So THB release, full skirmish overhaul with two new factions. FUN! NExt grand release afterwords? Campaign and stuff. We'll see how it goes.

Keep in mind THB grand release will not be perfect. There will be bugs to fix afterwords like 1.73 release, and we hope to continuously patch it and patch it just like 1.73 versions. Only this time, you guys will have everything, so whatever we offer, you guys get immediately! :D

We cannot wait to see the THB release at last! Sorry it took us a while to post the news.

I just got 6/10 races completely finished, folks. I'm trying to work on the mod done and done as fast as I can, without rushing of course. The UA team is on it!

Though I'm going to have to ask everyone to lower their pitchforks... the comment section got really hostile with "Lord Doofus not caring about the mod" comments and "What's taking the mod so long" comments.

1) I played as Demonhunters, and after having 6 plasma generators with all 3 upgrades, I had a +29 income. Ridiculous. Had to count on my allies for donations.
2) I will never play vs Tyranids again. Their unkillable green could was making everything move so slowly that I got a headache seeing them. Lmao.
3) Turrets do extreme damage. I saw some Grey Knights squads die in seconds from 2 Chaos Destruction Obeliscs. Ridiculous.
4) Tyranids and their Zoanthrops. No comments.
After having played some hours experimenting and trying to love this mod, I can say that it is quite good, has a lot of potential, but you have to do some balancing. I have a headache from that Tyranid green cloud still and I am ******. I had to reload a save like 10 times to save my precious readnoughts from almost insta kills by the Zoanthrops.
Atm, Titanium Wars is much funnier for me. And I can say it offers more challenge. +29 pwer with all 3 upgrades...Really??

Install UA mod 1.72.7! That should fix point 2, point 3, and many balance issues...

Otherwise 1.73 is going to fix a lot and I highly recommend you try that out.

Otherwise were you playing with allied computers like Tyranids or Daemons? That is your only +29 power problem. Those two factions don't use power... but Daemons are gonme in 1.72.7, and Tyranids are really done in 1.72.7...

So if you installed 1.72.7, that actually takes care of point 1, 2, and 3. So please, please pretty please give the mod another chance.

Zoanthropes are nerfed as well... thanks for feedback. :)

did you have shared or low resource rate? its not the mod you just didn't check your game rules LOL. I know on shared I get less energy because it is being divided with the other teams. Also I have played Titanium wars and I find some of the models lacking in detail and proper movement animations the Warhound being a great example. but then again I see Titanium wars as a quantity mod and UA is about quality. As for the Chaos Daemon turrets we all know they are OP which is why they are going to be removed and put back in later when it has been balanced.

Sorry for my grammar doing this from my phone. XD

Oh really? Come on, read before you post. Inquisition Daemonhunter and Tyrannids mod are not made by ultimate apocalypse mod team. They are works belong to someone else. I don't think UA team can do changes to those two mods without authorization from their owner. So if you cant stand the balance thingy then simply uninstall them or don't activate them and stay with vanilla ultimate apocalpyse mod. Over.

You got partially correct. We can add/remove units, edit all kinds of attributes, and many other changes to the Tyranids and IDH mods BUT when they're loaded within UA via .module.
Afaik, what we can't do is add an edited version of the Tyranids/IDH mod's assets on UA without authorization.

@ Idi_Amin_Dada:
- The 29 power income thing is indeed weird though. If resource rate was set to Normal, all I can think of is resource income decay (generators/strategic points producing less power over time). This effect is part of the vanilla game, and comes into play once a long time has passed.
- About point 2, you might want to reconsider once version 1.73 is out. There'll be plenty of improvements, including some on tyranids.
- On point 3, turrets indeed pack a punch, but they won't stand up much punishment. Due to how DoW handles armor rating all heavy infantry has the same armor, be them grey knights or say, ork nobz for example. While lore-wise grey knights *should* be able to take more damage from daemonic turrets, implementing that in-game would take a needlessly large amount of extra code, hence why it isn't in-game.
- On point 4, see my response to point 2 xP

Okay I played again vs Demons, the power income now was normal. Plus the fight was epic. 2500 kills. I managed to get both Titans up...That was Apocalypse. It seems that Tyranids are the issue. Otherwise, this mod is epic. Units die too fast though...

I played on 1.72.7 and chose U.A. New Races from Game Manager. Btw, I managed to win vs the Tyranids in that game but I was brain-exausted after that. Balancing is the most difficult aspect in a game/mod since you have to keep everyone pleased. But man, I can say that even the A.I. got ****** from that green tyrannid cloud. And still cannot get why I had +29 power income. Is it affected by the fact it was a 3v3 battle, so the game divides the income by 3? And turrets seem ok, since they exist to kill infantry and get destroyed by vehicles. It is in the general concept of this mod for units to die faster that in Titanium Wars imo.
