The Ultimate Apocalypse mod team proudly presents to the Dawn of War: Soulstorm players and fans, an eagerly awaited and packed with epic content game experience, the Ultimate Apocalypse mod!
Imagine a mod featuring massive Warhammer 40,000 battles where all 9 races in Soulstorm (and more!) have a chance at epic victory.
A mod where there's no shortage of all new units, buildings, abilities, and even titans!
A mod where there's nearly no limits holding you back. It's all about all out, massive war. Wanna nuke your enemies? You can. Gloriously epic titan duels are your thing?
Ultimate Apocalypse has you covered.

Not only that, but Ultimate Apocalypse is continuously tested to ensure the epic battle experience it delivers remains unique while being completely awesome.
Thanks to you (yes, you!) and everyone playing, Ultimate Apocalypse has been steady within the top 20 ranked mods for years.

Want to play online?
On Steam-based Soulstorm, simply get online and create or join a game. As of Jan 10 2015 the Lobby shows zero players but multiplayer works alright.
On Disk-based Soulstorm, you'll have to use a LAN tunneling app, such as Hamachi or Tunngle. There's plenty of tutorials for setting up both (and more) in the web, and we *might* put one up as well, too.

The Ultimate Apocalypse mod group on Steam is a great place for anyone looking for more people who plays the mod. Check it out!

Ultimate Apocalypse Mod

News - January

First off, we hope everybody had a great New Year! I believe at this year in time, we have had our 5th year anniversary for modding DOW. :) 2 years ago (12/20/12) we also released the Grand Release version 1.7!!! How about that for some good news? :) We got some good news and bad news, listing them in easy detail:

What's new?

New Walls! (By RT2 and Oomperial)Random The Hunt Begins - Grand Release Screenshots
Random The Hunt Begins - Grand Release ScreenshotsRandom Screenies - Alpha Internal (DODA or THB)

The Ultimate Apocalypse mod made top 7 of 20,000 mods!!!

So now...

Good News:

The mod is almost done to be in our final testing stages. All races are done, all AI is done, icons and polish is almost done (except for a few things), gameplay core was long done a while ago, our intended to be released content is all done. Bugs to be fixed: Almost done. Balance, wincondition insertions, bug fixes, and the final testing stages is all that is left to do (and polishing of new content). We could release a changelog right now this very second, but as the bad news follows...

Bad News:

We have to re-redo an entire faction, the Inquisition Daemonhunters. The Inquisition kinda needed a re-remake over because the race was too complicated for new players to get used to. The Inquisition is now being reworked at this time, will be easier to understand, more awesome, and their content is being remade. This could take a while or it will only take maybe 1-2 weeks to do. Who knows? This is why we test the mod in alpha stages privately. If there is something the crowd will not like, we'll eventually take care of it.

As for the next grandest Release (status):

All percentages are not based on a mathematical equation and are made up by the feel of completion by the developer. 100% completed could take as little as a day or as big as several months to accomplish.

  • 1.74 core design - 100%
  • Polish - 90%
  • Coding/bug fixes/balance - 80%
  • Scenarios/maps - 99.9%
  • Winconditions - 60%
  • AI - 85% (Just a major bug to fix, dealing with all AIs)
  • Inquisition - 69%
  • Daemons - 99.9%
  • Necrons - 99.9%
  • Sisters - 99.9%
  • Tau - 99.9%
  • Space Marines - 99.9%
  • Chaos - 99.9%
  • Tyranids - 99.9%
  • Orks - 99.9%
  • Imperial Guard - 99.9%
  • Eldar - 99.9%
  • Dark Eldar - 99.9%
  • Overall feel of release right now this very second - 0%

LASTLY!!!!

We are now accepting donations! We have our accounts once again all set up and everything, but we cannot post donation links here or other websites, as our chosen donation site needs explicitly made websites that we can use to edit source code. :( If you would like to donate today, be one of our 85 donators by PMing me (Lord_Cylarne) and be put on the list of one of our donators! I'll provide information how to donate upon PM. I wish it were more simple to donate, but atm, this is all we can do. If there is a site you recommend (besides paypal), that will allow donation buttons to be placed on this site for example, let us know ASAP with instructions! Thanks!

The UA mod team thanks everyone for their contributions:

With what is problem that take 1 day+ for 0.05%? These percentages don't mean anything, I don't know for what you write it.

Yes, we are that far in changing up the mod. Then I encounter more bugs I did not see before that needs to be fixed.

Without those fixes, we can expect people, thousands of people to report what we already know. We don't want that, why add more Frequently Asked Questions?

It is better to release a mod clean and with a finished feel, than rushed, unpolished, and effortless to fix these required bugs.

Take a look at this from the latest and final alpha: Moddb.com

Do you want us to release crap like that? No?

So that is why.

They write those percentages to show how much work has been completed, not to give a precise estimate of when the entire work is going to be finished because nobody can tell when a mod is going to be finished for various reasons. If they could do that then they simply would have declared a release date instead of giving percentages.

Calm down a bit! People used to complain when Lord Doofus gave release dates even if the patch was delayed for something like a week. Now people complain because his percentages while accurate as they depend on tasks (not the time per task) completed change only slightly when he is working hard to get it done in his freetime like all modders do. I must refer FREETIME again as many people don't seem to understand that while some play mods on their freetime, modders have to make them on their freetime. Demanding justifications or complaining won't help it move any faster and so i fail to see the point in constantly asking why x% takes so much time.
Don't take this personnaly as i am making this as general comment for simillar complaints.

I understand but they could say that time to complete extended by a week or more, and do not give us dry percentages of which nothing is clear. 99,95% gives a lot of hope for it will be ready in a several dozen minutes. That's all I wanted to say.

Like i said they used to give release dates for patches but if they missed by a bit for some unforeseen reason really angry comments would appear here and so Lord Doofus decided to use a percentage system to be task accurate as that way no one could complain about delayed releases as no date is given. He can't seem to please everyone regardless of how he updates players on the status so he might as well give no status updates but then people would say the mod is dead due to no status update. Either way there will be always reasons for people to complain about it.

Apparently some bugs were noticed by the team's testers and so they are now being solved:

Some bugs are hard to solve and so that should be the major reason why things may seem to move slowly.

I guess then if you propose I should not give a release date system and a percent system, then what system?

Without any updates on how mod progress is going, rates of people visiting a site will be lower than is because people don't know when a mod is going to be released, so I am nice enough to update the crowd how far we are into the mod.

Fun part is that they are actually helping UA mod community to stick together. Sure it´s not intentional but looking at much older comments with much worse karma rating while being unable to find something worthy and negative, it did the job.

We are simply not ready to release. 99.949% (yes one more change that is nerve racking to fix) done or not, I like version 1.73 to be at the best possible quality possible assuming the possible.

When I delivered the mod to the team... there are a lot of issues that needs attending to which are not done yet.
