Version 1.74 could be completed by any day and we want to get rid of many bugs as possible before its release! There really isn't much news on our end besides 1.74 stuff and on top of that Inquisition Daemonhunters + Chaos Daemons! We are working hard on the mod, and it is going smoothly with new content we will release in a few days/weeks.

We do have some news about other events, though...

Recently, a new Steam version of Dawn of War Soulstorm was introduced. The new steam version fixes some countless logs of errors and patches new things, provided by THQ/Sega, so Soulstorm is now being supported!!!!

But of course like always, there is some things that backfire:

This mod, for example, cooperating with the Ultimate Apocalypse mod team under some new implementations and the such has been rendered incompatible with the steam version of DOW. This is bad, this is very, very bad. The mod is the Darkness Within mod, single player campaign, perhaps the best mod ever to be created for single player, cannot go on because of the new steam patch. The accomplishments through this mod is really good. All art assets, the mission scripts, dialogue, and maps cannot be fully enjoyed without the Steam version working.

Therefor non steam versions of the game can only work for this masterpiece...

Why?

    Well for starters, a campaign needs a story line and a process in which you unlock the next mission. The Darkness Within mod team did this and completed it with their own .dll files that needs to be configured within the Dark Crusade mod engine. Yet Steam restricts that use and hence, the project cannot move on because of the access violations and security; new security of steam games everywhere for Dark Crusade renders mods like this, broken.

Please support them and heed to their call, here. They are hoping to sign a petition to go out and spread word to the makers of Dawn of War and allow access to their mod or otherwise it could really be the end for Steam users to not ever play this mod.

It also affects the UA mod.

So please help this mod in any way you can. Got steam version of Dark Crusade/Soulstorm? Too bad, you cannot play this mod or UA campaign ever. You gotta go out and buy the disk now. This is also what the Bloodline mod is facing!!!!

Campaign project for UA mod could be terminated without your help.

Bloodline mod has problems exactly like DW mod and their problems with steam...

the allie will SOMEHOW go to the points i have captured and then uncapture them and take them for himself and only goes the point AFTER i have taken it very infuriating the only exception seems to be the lorn V battle lands
and the necrons as allies they will still attempt to take my points but are unable to uncapture them so hopefully you will fix this also the daemons seem to be VERY over powered but it seems to be the only way i can beat the survival missions so it would be good if you could make an easier difficulty or something for people who are not very good like me

Otherwise the allies uncapturing your points thing cannot be fixed by mods. It is a random DOW engine problem which we only hope but to avoid next time. :\

A lot of people will "rub you up the wrong way" and "get on your goat", but remember they are no effect on you and your splendid mod.

Please do not feel confronted by this statement, but this space is needed for the development of the mod and this type of controversy is just harassment for the purposes of promotion of your own mod for financial benefit. Hence cyber harassment.

I would like to see a larger amount of assets for DOW for sure, but we must remember the mission statement of this Mod when conversing about the mod.

Warsmith under your own Mods forum, would you open up a discussion thread so that DOW developers can "Have at it" about the deployment and usage of DOW2 assets in DOW1 Mods?
Unless your mods mission statement includes the refusal to use any other games assets. :P

I'd enjoy somewhere to talk about it and let everyone to share their controversial opinions and let them have a place to let it out and get a better DOW developing community.

I'm a lil busy at the moment and mightn't jump straight in, But I would enjoy gaining others perspectives as far as other games assets go. :)

I will say that on my evil side I would like to see assets from "FireWarrior" in DOW, but I must restrain my knowledge to comply with the Mission statement of the UA Mod.
I could talk for hours about Firewarrior Assets. :)

I tried here, but there was a mission statement breach so it was canned. :)

I would like to be able to go to a thread in a place where I could read about thoughts on this as it would give me a better understanding of how people feel about this topic.

Well, ModDB's article on copyright (here: Moddb.com ) states "Use of another games art assets in a mod without the consent of the artist." as an example of copyright violation.
The "FBI killteams" mention was a joke of course, but still I'm sure Lord Doofus wouldn't do anything that could risk getting UA closed down.

P.S.: I'm no hardcore defender of copyrights or anything. Copyright is a nice "ideal" concept, unfortunately corporations exploit it for money to a point it hampers creativity rather than defend it.
