News! - December (A thank you and behind the scenes)

UPDATE! 12/28/15

Visit site here: Youtube.com

First off I want to say thank you to two new Patreon donators for donating to the Ultimate Apocalypse mod! It is quite inspiring and I thank everyone of you who especially donated in the past which also made this mod as great as it is today! Also related to this whole donation event, I'd like to make clear of this video here below, please watch!

And here it is again here:

Patreon.com

I know this video has been up for quite a while, and I did just get to it now, and I do apologize for the huge delay indeed. :)

Behind the Scenes:

So here are the issues at hand:

  1. 1) Youtube videos under production by Lord Cylarne is on hold due to microphone/head sets not working. Daemons mod review, Steel Legion Review, and Witch Hunters review will be posted on my channel on DECEMBER 25th, 2015 along with the version 1.85 patch which will be released on MOD DB with a teaser to be revealed before its release on my channel. ^^ Also after that, a tutorial for all of you fair folks for demonstrating how to apocalyze apocalypse maps! :) We can thank the FOK map contributors already for doing so, like removing the fog.
  2. 2) There is also a lot to keep on like forum reading (there are now hundreds of forums to read). I would like everyone to know that we are on it. The Apocalypse mod team wishes to apologise for not responding to most or at least half of the forum topics discussed. That does not necessarily mean that you guys are being ignored, though! I for example like to go through forum threads and jot down what to fix and move on to fixing it in the patch notes, then all the sudden, some of the community does not like the changes or spots what the developer missed throughout some forum discussions. This will be changed. I will personally go through the forums and reply to almost every one if I have to, and state what will be changed/my thoughts on what should be changed, instead of putting it all in the changelog for a surprise. The mod team apologizes for also not keeping a big track on the community forums as there are few of us who are actually active. Admittedly, the main developer did little to nothing this week, but that is because he (me) was on a break due to the stress of modding the mod and finishing it to the deadline. Work will be resumed... THIS MONDAY!
  3. 3) All of the bug reports posted in the 1.85 bug report has been recorded indeed. Eldar was also recorded after 1.85 release. The rest of the factions weren't and we'll get on that monday! Most comments were read and by tomorrow, all 18 PMs will be read, and I do apologize to folks that have not been replied to in over a week. There is just a lot to do, and real life gets in the way and I hope that a lot of people will understand our situation. :) Doing a large project for free with little to no support of the mod team and frankly leadership flaws is not easy... hopefully this will be fixed as we care dearly about the fans! Say where is that dang cloning machine? I want one, must have.
  4. 4) Wiki: Yeah we'll get to it, we'll get to it. Once everything else is taken care of which is first priority, we will MOST CERTAINLY have great honor in resuming the updating of the wiki page, relicnews (if the editor does not crash), and... whatever.

1.85 patch is released!!!

Donation = The least I can do.

Besides, this mod saves me a bunch of money I would normally spend on other games. So I might as well send some of it your way.

Why can't we post in the front page?

You mean like bug reports? You CAN... but it's not recommended at all. Forums is the best place to do it as your posts will never ever fornever ever forever never ever be buried in the next hundreds of comments. If it is a really good suggestion/bug you found, and it gets buried and the devs never saw it... well your suggestion will NOT be updated in next patch.

And all those whose works are used in UA mod, will also receive a percentage of donate?

No, they were too stupid to share their stuff with ua-team for free.

But the answer has not been from the team UA ...

Why do you need an answer, if theres something what bothers that much, you can either contact moddb guys and/or check with original developers of said content.

Being bit specific shouldn't hurt either. I really hope that Microsoft, Edison and other contributors will get their piece as well. Without them, there would be no UA mod :o

Because It interests me. I asked a question that would like to get an answer.
And yes, in the UA is my content for example.

No need to quibble over words(Microsoft,Edison...). The conversation is about what UA is used in a lot of of another content, which even if was given, that the rights of modification FREE. And I began to wonder whether the authors of other mods (despite the fact that the work of the other mods in the UA more than 50%) to receive a percentage of this income?
This question is quite normal.

Because at the moment it turns out that the developers UA would earn on not their content and works(Not 100% but for the most part).

If UA was selling the mod, everyone who contributed would need to receive their share but donations are not the same as sales.
If you want money though this is unlikely to be the way to go as donations are usually scarce and one time events and divided by every contributor you would likely get 0.01$ or 0.02$

You did not put the question.
Rather, the issue of respect for developers UA to those whose work they use in mod.

Example:
Bloodline immediately set a goal not to collect money from the modification, as it uses someone else's content. Just out of respect for other people's work. Because we understand that a lot of content in this mod is not our (even if it is modified or improved by us, the original work is not ours) Although in general we also need money (hosting site tournaments with prizes, etc.). But we are investing their personal funds to promote modifications.

So the question is in general that the developers UA respect not their content and their developers.

I'm just insulting for the of all those whose work is used for earnings without their knowledge.

If it a habit in other mods (make money on other people's work) ... it is at least sadly and wrong.

*demands money*

"UA respect not their content and their developers."

Say no more. I want to make a suggestion, you have a mod and are demanding money, then I insist you to go set up a donation account because frankly, your content compared to my work on this mod is probably going to be like 0.1% to be honest. 0.1% is 40 cents of what is currently owned. The mod is really big and I have put 5 years into the project with tons of respect for others with credits provided. If you have a problem with credits, I will update it, and I am open for suggestions on how to improve it. The reason why I'm still here making patches and getting money is because I love my fan base, I love doing this (even when I should not) and a little money towards living would help me in the long run. So it is quite understandable, especially giving the circumstances where I have to read hundreds and hundreds of threads topped with hundreds of comments and 30 some PMs every week. So it is quite understandable where I should get 99% of the reward.

CREDITS on the other hand we'll give most definitely if not given properly. There is an entire list of credits somewhere within mod summary and descriptions of changelogs. But demanding money off of us especially in public insulting us is a desperate move don't you think?

I understand your point of view but your mod also distributes content without the authors permission (Witch Hunters for example) and distributes for free content which is paid (models from either DoW2 or 40k Space Marine).

Either way you look no one is following the rules nor being the good guys ;)

Also in general donations can be seen as a reward for the actual modding work which obviously goes beyond the model or art assets.

Honestly no one is pure, you are just trying to be more pure than others :P

Our mod does not include Witch Hunters with my knowledge. If you will make such claim, then you will point at it with evidence. Our mod did not go through witch hunters mod. Other mods could have and probably stolen a bit or two.

If you still want me to test your SS campaign mod, provide feedback about it with video, and be helpful to your mod, then stop with the pure talk.

Heh, if you Leo really do respect others peoples work, you would get the permission to use the content they have created first. So only worthwhile part is question to what extent are contributors entitled to receive their share.

Because thats difficult question, I have told you to contact either moddb staff or developers. For example you can ask Tyranid mod team about it, they are quite active and content protective. But don't be surprised if you get quite positive answer...

EDIT: **** moddb way of sorting out comments.

GreenScorpion - All authors whose works we use are listed in the credits. Just like the UA have credits.

But we do not earn money with mod. So do not blame us in contempt. These are different things.

Regarding WH we have repeatedly said that if the original developers have asked us to remove the race this race of mod - we remove.

Shodar87 - From Tyranid were some parts of the code, FX and more. The rest is not working out tyranid mod. For us it will not be difficult to replace them with our work, if necessary.

And yea... just do not see in me now developer BL. I am writing on my own behalf.

In general, your and your position became clear to me.

But they were not needed.

Lord_Cylarne

I want to emphasize - I never demanded money from you. I just ask a question on the bill, whether the authors of other mods get a percentage of income? Nothing more.
And I do not need money. I understand that my work was not much. I'm more sorry for the other (FOK POK authors for example).

I need only had your answer. I got it. I do not mean to offend. I just pointed out how the situation looks from the outside.

A public response has greater weight than the correspondence in personal messages. In this regard, I would like to get it here.
I do not publicly insulted. If you have something perceived as an insult - I'm sorry, maybe not a good translation in Google is not quite correctly expressed my words.

Overall the response I received, and therefore I leave here.

It is a pity the answer I was very saddened ...

I know that this is possibly the worst place to post this, (well, besides on a funeral service page or something) but my main gripe with the Tau Class-10 Battlesuit lineup is the animations and the models.
You guys have probably heard complaints like this time and time again, and I myself know just how outrageously difficult it is to do 3D modelling, texturing and animation, but hear me out.
The arm-mounted weaponry, for one, looks a little to bulky for the chassis, and they also look a little too protruded and stiff for the sake of accuracy.
Secondly, the chest -or the jump pack, I honestly cant tell- looks a little large, too, and the vents are a bit too deep, and should be pulled out a bit more.(plus the R'Varna head needs a swap-out with the XV-25 Stealth Suit, and the textures need some more variation of coloured areas.)
Lastly, the legs look somewhat thin (or short) and should be in a vaguely crouching-like stance, rather than what currently looks like the legs of a mechanical meerkat standing up to survey the distant surroundings.
Even though the Ultimate Apocalypse mod is far from completion, and you might already be well-acquainted with these issues, I still feel the need to mention it to you lads.
(PS: Please don't roast me. ): )

-Yours truely; a long-time supporter.

Actually, you know what? Forget everything I said about the standard Riptide, just remove the original XV101 Riptide and keep the XV104 variant instead. But I still think that the Riptide needs a new texture with some more areas for diverse colouration along the armour.
In the future (You've most likely already planned this) move the Riptide down to the lowest of the Titan units, have the R'Varna be the more specialized variant, and have the Stormsurge + Supremacy suits be the strongest ground-based Titan units. With the introduction of those two beasts, I think we can all safely say that the Mako can be retired now.
Aside from that, I'd say that the XV9 series could use a bit of work, and I apologise for my lack of research on my previous post.
