What a rhyme...
Was always a little sad about the Soulstorm campaign. Where was the witty commander banter from Dark Crusade? That said, should be fun with UA.
Well there was the occasional bright spot. METAL BAWKSES and so on.
And the 100 Baneblades gone missing. Like, 100 King-sized METUHL BWAWKSIZ, all gone, & no one ever noticed.
It would have been great, but there were just too many factions and strongholds in Soulstorm for that to be feasible. Look at it this way: in Dark Crusade there were 7 factions. That's 42 sets of dialogue between the commanders. Take away 6 each for Tyrea and the Thur'Abis Catacombs as they didn't really have any banter between your commander and Taldeer or Macabee and that's just 30 sets that need to be written and recorded. For Soulstorm there's 9 factions, for a total of 72 sets of commander-to-commander dialogue if you want to cover every stronghold mission. Given all the other problems Iron Lore were having at the time, is it really that surprising that this didn't get implemented, when it would have been more than double what was done for Dark Crusade?
So campaign now confirmed

HL3 woulod be one of the biggest fails, because it would never be able to stand up against the expectations of the "gamers' hype".
that chance is long gone.
why? half life 2 lived up to my expectations. why would it be so impossible for 3 to do so? you could make a mod on the engine and i would still consider it 3 if it were good enough, no new engine even required. the simple fact of the matter is that is not truly the case. the truth is they have made so much money from steam that they no longer care and never will again till there poor or broke. which i don't ever see happening. still, the least they could do is let someone else finish it for them but they wont even do that. -_-
