I played imperial guard religiously in the previous DC mod (FoK) and you know eventually i got pretty good at it.

However i have been playing UA for about a week now (imperial Guard) and i cannot figure out a strategy that works, i ended up getting slaughtered by the ais apperant never ending forces. I play on standard and i usually go infantry doctrine. I am good at the whole shift clicking and capping and building im just looking for tips to do with combat, when to get tiers, priorities etc.

Dont want to seem like im bragging its the opposite of that, im just being honest so i can get the right help :)

I'm not especially good with IG but I think infantry doctrine can only be handled efficiently by an AI XD. It's such a mess to lead that most of the time I lost half of my men before finishing to give them orders or prevent pathfinding bottleneck XD

The most playable and interesting is the mechanized one imho.

You can try to play with/against IG AI and save replays to watch how computer is dealing/organizing things That's what I personaly do.
Another thing is to play with small battles addon. This way you can more easily focus on some fewer units and get familiar with their strength and weakness.

I have a replay video here Youtube.com if it can be of some help. Tough I'm using mechanized doctrine...

My brother is IG pro player. He can kick anyone ass with tank doctrine. Pm me if you want to contact him.

Thankyou for the replies, i do enjoy the challenge of infantry doctrine so i will stick with it and attempt to learn it. Perhaps it requires alot more micrmanagement. Something i feel like im doing, however i would like to be rewarded for such you know? I will watch the replays Sin that is a really good idea. And if your brother Soulstorman has any general advice i would love to hear it!

*Also i would like to hear anyones general advice on combating the Tau?

I find that Orkz and Chaos are pretty straightfoward (however they do pose a challenge) I have yet to succeed against eldar because they seem to never 'suffer' from the losses I manage to make them suffer (Eg. I kill 3 or 4 squads with masterful strategy :P , and they just come back 10 to 20 seconds later with and army double that, meanwhile im reinforcing trying to fill losses from previous attacks and they are just relentless. Makes for a good "Hold the Line Damn you!" feel but im not sure where to go after that.

So yeah i want to collect some information about other players experience and what works best for them, maybe compile it once its all worked out. Be good to have some formulas you know are going to get you somewhere :)
