Tyranid Mod v0.45-SS
Jul 26, 2008 Full Version 4 commentsLatest Tyranid Mod release for Soulstorm - updated from the 0.45 Dark Crusade release. Includes new Soulstorm AI and flyer interaction update (no, that...
This modification adds the Tyranid race, from the tabletop war-game Warhammer 40k from which Dawn of War was based on, to the game. The Tyranids are an alien race, threatening the imperium from the edge of the galaxy, living only to feast upon the flesh of their foes. They are a fearsome adversary, but an even better ally! That's why our mod allows you fight with and for the great Tyranid race, swarm the enemy with hundreds of hormagaunts, stamp on your foes with the huge carnifex and devour your opponent from within with the deadly lictor. We aim to show players of Dawn of War what the fantastic Tyranids are and attempt to keep as true to the feel of the race as possible.

tomb_world: It wasn't a missile, nothing so bulky can be safely put against a Norn Queen without the wielder being hacked in half. It was, as I shall explain, a pistol. They can't use it on Nid ships because they are truely ENORMOUS and have carapace armour which can stand up to Nova Cannon blasts (the shells of which are the size of a 3 story house and travel at almost the speed of light). They can't use it on other enemies because they don't work the same way as Nids, in that they aren't connected by a massive psychic Overmind which controls their every action.
Vis: Yeh, the "gigantic warriors" i'm talking about are Dominatrix, very tough. There probably is something bigger and tougher still way out in the void between galaxies. Now to answer your many questions at the end of your post.
The Deathwatch Kill Team that got into the Hive ship consisted of 8 Deathwatch and 2 Ultramarines (one being Captain Ventris, the other being Sergeant Pasanius). They got in by flying their Thunderhawk through a waste oraface and landing INSIDE the Hive Ship. Then, using an auspex (scanning device) to locate the Norn Queen until the auspex was lost. The Kill Team then followed the heart-beats of the ship toward the Norn Queen (thanks to a Space Wolf amongst their number). Upon reaching the chamber of the Norn Queen the Deathwatch launched a valiant attack against the 4 Dominatrix protecting the Norn Queen. After several minutes of fierce blade-to-talon combat Captain Ventris was able to climb up the Norn Queen and fire the gene-poison shell into the Norn Queen.
Now, for an explanation about the pistol which fires the gene-poison. The pistol is designed around Hrud technology, which is a combination of plasma and melta technology (such as that used by the Imperium). When Captain Ventris fires the pistol in unleashes a beam of super-heated energy which melts through the hide of the Norn Queen and allows the shell carrying the gene-poison to be fired directly into the Norn Queen.
"AND SERIOUSLY, how could a kill team defeat a hive ship, penetrate it, find which chamber she was in, and defeat her guards and her? "
Well, the Deathwatch are the Inquisitions elite alien fighting force, comprised of the most skilled warriors from the most loyal Space Marine Chapters in the Imperium. Suffice to say, they are the best, bar none.
Also, take into account that they are Space Marines, the finest warriors in the Imperium. Already the best warriors on the world they are taken from and then transformed into eight-foot tall, power armoured killing machines. To put it bluntly, they are hard.
"I am well aware of the planet where they fought, it was where they managed to kill all the nids a split second after all the marines were defeated right?"
Sorry to say, you need to read up more. The Marines were NOT all defeated, there were between 40 and 60 marines left standing when the tyranids were killed.
there is a problem withthe genestealers you should make it so they have no morale because tyranids are all fearless just like in the board game and then it will get good because ive played the mod brilliant idea adding them just wrong how youve designed the combat of them
Answers (although I suggest you sign up to our forums - its much easier)
-Before christmas
-The rippers for certain, perhaps a few buildings and MAYBE another unit that hasn't been announced :P
-All of them
-There will be a campaign, but we won't start making it until we've finished balancing the mod. Sign up on the forums and donate some of your ideas to our ideas pool
about the mod
We added tyranids because they are by far the coolest race in 40k, and the typical "bad guy". We just felt that DoW wasn't DoW without everyone's favourite bugs.
ideas for the next mod
Add necrons? nah. These guys are doing it instead :P Eclipseofexistence.com
What sort of info do you want?
a bit more info on the mod pleeeeezz
At the moment, yes, but most other units can neutralise points. True to tyranid fluff the main swarm wipes the battlefield clean, and the rippers come along after, taking the land for the swarm.
ok ok i will not post ever again ok damn i will just do like i did for the first 2 months i waited for the mod o and i was just sating that most ppl think its a bit tatan ok o and i thinks its some thing very power full in the brain pls go the there web site you will see it says it is a hive minds agent and that it is the most power thing the nids will have in the mod ok maybe its just a small but power with the mind powers like storms and the power to make heads go boom some shit like that
I've already bought them.
It works with the release version of Winter Assault, which I suggest you run out and buy! Go now!
will the next release be the beta? and if so will it include new models?
