So you've made the final version of the rain! (two previous versions are here: Ppmsite.com)

A mix of Aro's and LKO's? ;-) It looks less dense, and very realistic as well. :-D

PS Taxikiller is somewhat right. They would be nice.

Could do with being smaller, slower and like the taxikiller says, could do with some splats.

The only rain animation out of the 3 with 'splats' is rain2 which is the one I posted on the forum, that image was not designed for TS though hence why it wasn't used full stop. Bird_of_Prey has the same opinion as me on what would happen if it were smaller and splats were added, though It never hurts to try.

I meant smaller raindrops like in LKO's one. ;-) Yours has splats. ;-)

This anim could do with some of these things... but I think it really looks very decently to say little.

Looks great! If it was any smaller it'd just look like pixel wide lines, I'm afraid. And I think splats would be a bit to hard to do, as they'd just be random and would probably end up looking strange splatting on surfaces they shouldn't and the like. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

A little more transparency on the rain or a feature to disable it? Sort of screwing with my eyes when I'm looking around the terrain for some reason :(

AWESOME!!! I did not expect the weather effects in this game.
Is the weather will effect on the units? Or is this just a new graphical effects?

Feillyne Nov 4 2009, 4:44am replied:

Hmm, these are made like animations, you know, like explosions, but triggered by map scripts.

So it's only an animation and shouldn't affect units in any way... well, you know I'd like to see some "more than for looks" sense of it, too. :-D

I was thinking that on rainy maps tracked units could have a slower speed rate which gives hover / anti-grav / walker units an advantage.

Hmm, will it be raining all the time? Raining for a few minutes, then a break, then raining again... it would be cool to see such effects, it'd be even more realistic. :-)

We're discussing it in the staff forum, certain art.ini issues may prevent map triggers from working properly on looping animations.

Hmm, isn't there a way to make it looped by triggers? Probably it would lag the game a bit, too... = /

Will it be added as an environment factor like time of day and will there be an intensity variable?

I apologize for the late reply.
It can be altered for each specific map to play at certain speeds and what-not, but it can not be turned off once it has began, that's the downfall of looping animations.
