That mask is not really needed and its also useless in combat. You only need that when you are welding with a mig welder due to the bright blue light it givea off can burn your retina.
This guys has what looks to be an oxy acetylene torch used primarily for cutting. Tho ... it is missing a 2nd tank for that so it could also be some kind of a single gas fuel like a propane torch for example.
Just get rid of that welding mask and its perfect in my book.
