The Doom that Came to Sarcon, the future of Triptych, an impending release and more.

Triptych - Chapter II is winding down to near completion, offering players an hours long Lovecraftian adventure into the heart of desolate ruins and a mountain range aeons old. We have put a tremendous effort into making this be our most polished release yet, either be it through writing and methods of story telling or gameplay and ways to keep the player engaged in the environment, including puzzles, proper enemy encounters, and a saturated atmosphere of dread and despair. The above scene showcases our new cinematic approach to certain elements of the story, using non-narrated directed scenes to show pivotal moments in the series. There will be three total, one for each chapter, with the other two being reserved as secrets until the finished product is played.

It is our sincere goal to make the near perfect Lovecraft adventure, pulling out all the stops we can. Triptych - Chapter II will release on August 31st with,

  • A fully functional new UI, e.g: like Worry of Newport
  • Save/Load support
  • New book reading system, including the ability to go backwards and read them again (This helps us introduce puzzles or new languages with translation sheets next to them)
  • A more player-oriented, rather than "minimalistic", sense of game play. You'll have puzzles, encounters, varied environments, investigation and pure horror aspects to go through rather than just "walk and listen" like Chapter 1.

Chapter 1 News

It is likely within the near future that Chapter 1 will be pulled from download mirrors and reviews will be wiped in preparation for this future release. Chapter 1, on our end, has been retooled significantly including adding an intro cutscene, changing the ending entirely to make way more sense (no more rolling... rock thing) and adding "curse" encounters that make Jeremiah, indeed, feel doomed. This re-release is planned to be attached to Chapter 2, or perhaps re-released week before, so the current build is destined to be killed sometime soon to clean the slate. We thought we'd give you a heads up, rather than just delete it without mentioning and make you think we cancelled Triptych.

This unnarrated scene illustrates by visual/atmosphere the creepy summoning of something out of the sky and has implications that it did not forebode well, set atop a bunch of snowy ruins of a civilization called Sarcon in 3600 B.C. Something is summoned, and the atmosphere reflects it was not a good thing. Lovecraftian cosmic horror is essentially the key. Much more of this ancient civilization and their tremendous rise-and-fall is the crux of Triptych - Chapter 2.

The scene is minimalistic, and is five minutes of dread and immersion, with some key moments (the summoning magic, and ending PoV). We hope it acts as a good beacon for the atmosphere and cinematic production values we're adding.
