Introducing some cool new effects, and our new mapper, AlexCrafter!

First off I`d like to introduce to everyone our new mapper, AlexCrafter. He`s an experienced source mapper, having created maps for Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Prison Island and Zombie Master, and developing the mod Sity . You can take a look at his website if you`re interested.
Now the update... Nothing really mindblowing, just pictures of some new bumpmaps and refraction effects in action. Be patient, the animated gifs may take a while to load.
EDIT July 30, 2009: I'm going to listen to you guys, I realized the bump maps are kind of unnatural looking. I'm going to redo them, I'll show them off in the next update.

They were made using a combination of CrazyBump, Photoshop (and the Nvidia plugin) and the normal map tool in TheBestFlash`s SSBump Generator. Here`s some pictures of the refraction effects: (these pictures were posted about a week ago)

The water ripple effects use the new Orange Box particles, allowing them to refract and fade in and out properly. Well, thanks for reading the update, we`ll have more cool stuff to show off next time!

New effects very good
Nice effects here ;)
fantastic
The character bump maps are way over the top (but the sand one looks great). Subtlety is how you do it: Moddb.com
They look a bit too strong because they're in modelviewer. In-game it looks pretty realistic, like in the first picture.
I don't like the effect in-context either. /Maybe/ it would work if the bump map texture was dynamic, changing as the character animated, but it isn't. They end up looking instead like someone's poured glue into their washing machine. ;-)
i agree, the bumpmaps on the player models need work
cool effects lads, well done
The ground looks good, the citizen's bumpmap doesn't really look that good however. And when you look at the ground texture being concrete, the bumpy look provided by the bumpmap doesn't make sense.
So eh.
Effects have me watching, also the story as well. Good Luck!
Looks great, hope you change some of the bumpmap for the citizen's
Nice effects ;)
I really like that water splash effect :D
