Triage is a single-player campaign for Half-Life 2: Episode Two set in the beginning of the City 17 uprising, a few days after Gordon Freeman's disappearance in Nova Prospekt. You play as a citizen who narrowly escapes execution by the metropolice, and must fight alongside the resistance to survive.

Unlike many Half-Life 2 mods, Triage is not a map pack or an SMOD mashup. The goal of the mod is to create a new campaign from the perspective of an ordinary citizen who becomes caught up in the uprising.

Features include:

- A whole new campaign, featuring new characters, locations and a storyline set within the HL2 universe.
- Semi-tactical gameplay: Ironsights, regenerating health, dynamic accuracy (determined by the player's movement speed and stance)
- New inventory system: you can only carry one melee weapon, one pistol, one primary and 5 grenades. You can swap your pistol and primary with other weapons you come across.
- Tweaked AI: do more interesting things during combat, such as strafing and crouching and are more likely to take cover. Humanoid NPCs will seek cover when they've taken damage or are under heavy fire, for more interesting firefights. Also, if a squad hears something suspicious, they will send one squad member to investigate and report back to the squad.
- New particle effects, increased gore ( explosions can gib NPCs ) for a more cinematic experience.
- New weapons, silenced versions of the SMG and pistol, as well as an AK47 (taken from CounterStrike and heavily modified :P)

More features will be listed when they're completed.

First off I`d like to introduce to everyone our new mapper, AlexCrafter. He`s an experienced source mapper, having created maps for Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Prison Island and Zombie Master, and developing the mod Sity . You can take a look at his website if you`re interested.

Now the update... Nothing really mindblowing, just pictures of some new bumpmaps and refraction effects in action. Be patient, the animated gifs may take a while to load.

EDIT July 30, 2009: I'm going to listen to you guys, I realized the bump maps are kind of unnatural looking. I'm going to redo them, I'll show them off in the next update.

They were made using a combination of CrazyBump, Photoshop (and the Nvidia plugin) and the normal map tool in TheBestFlash`s SSBump Generator. Here`s some pictures of the refraction effects: (these pictures were posted about a week ago)

The water ripple effects use the new Orange Box particles, allowing them to refract and fade in and out properly. Well, thanks for reading the update, we`ll have more cool stuff to show off next time!

A note, it is Zombie Master, not Zombie Master Source. (Pointing at "Typo" in news about Alex Crafter)

After looking through the comments in the update, I think you guys are right. The bump maps look a bit off, they're going to be redone. You'll see them in the next update.

To be honest I hate too much bump mapping. It looks great on things like tile and dirt, but I think it looks awful on your models clothes. Just too many giant folds. Bump mapping can make games look like shit in my opinion.

The bumpmaps in the gifs are nice, but excessive and random in the change of depth, especially with the rebel model.

The entire campaign takes place in City 17, so there'll be no outlands. Some screenshots are taken from HL2:Episode 2 for comparison purposes, that's why there are different hands in the screens.
