Tremor is a Source Engine modification intending to recreate the classic gameplay style of Half-Life, Doom, and Quake.

It's now returned to active development and has an intended beta release date of Q3, 2011. In the meantime, media releases, community projects and maybe a trailer or two will be released to you all.

The current largest goal is getting the code into a solid, stable iteration so that real content can be built around that gameplay. The secondary goal is brainstorming a new gameplay element to attempt to further distance the mod from it's inspirations - making it a "Quake Clone" is what killed it in the end, last time.

Merry After-Christmas!

 
Here are some new screenshots of an unfinished map to prove to you guys that I'm not inactive - still as motivated as ever and actively trying to get things done!
 

 

 

 

I'm also preparing some new weapon concepts to be voted upon, which will be posted here in an edited post, as well as in the Features section. In addition, I've done a revamp of the main page. I'm still waiting on ModDB staff to get back to me on how to set a page background...

Lastly, Between me and others, I've thought up a general consensus in terms of theme rules:

There are no rules.

As the mod is taking a less serious tone now, themes are much, much more free to be used - rather than confining your selection to a group of themes defined by canon.

That said, there will still be two main categories, based around groups of four:

Layout:

  • Floating islands
  • Normal islands
  • Underground
  • Vertical

Planet:

  • Water planet
  • Grass planet
  • Lava planet
  • Ice planet

Other than that though, all of it's completely out there. Gameplay matters more than the looks in the end.

But its not the tremors i was thinking of . . . lol
if you have ever seen the movie tremors youd kno which one i was speaking of.
Nun the less though,this should be nice to although a tremors mod would be pretty diffrent/sweet :D

Tremor's visual styles vary considerably. I'm pursuing Quake 1-esque maps, Nova is pursuing Quake 2-esque maps, and DJive/Shmitz are designing maps more akin to Quake 3.

Thank god you got rid of the prox mine layer. I hate that weapon. In quakelive all it does is make kiddies spam it to f*ck.

I believe Quake 2 had a blaster. A second projectile weapon would be nice, but nothing is less-manly than a pistol, even if it is a futuristic self-recharging one. :P
