Total Mayhem includes improved versions of 3rd party units by unitmakers from the last 12 years of modding TA. All units have been bugfixed, most have been remodeled, re-textured and re-rendered to Cavedog standard. The entire game balance has been improved. This is intended to be what Cavedog would have done if they continued to support the game.

TOTAL MAYHEM's features include:

  • An extended builder interface with 10 buttons per page instead of the usual 6, that is still compatible with lower resolutions (down to 800x600)
  • Loads of bugfixes that prevent lockups and crashes, improve unit AI and improve game performance, meaning more units ingame with less lag
  • rebalancing of most units to make them more useful, and open up more strategic options for the player
  • snappy gameplay that favours making metal extractors better instead of making metal makers worse, to encourage expansion and improve game pace
  • LOADS of added units, including a complete Level 3 tier: experimental kbots, tanks, navy and air, super nukes, nuke cannons and more

New version 7.06 with a bunch of new treats for you:

  • totally revamped GUI, better looking, no more separate "Orders" and "Build" menus for builders.
  • early-game economy big improvements!
  • new buildings: advanced storages, radar jammer towers, advanced armed geothermal generators, advanced armed tidal generators, dragon's eye sight towers.
  • shield generator buildings (see pics)!
  • new Tortoises (radar/sonar, radar jammer, kamikaze)!
  • new aircraft, new tanks too!
  • 25 new units added in total (including mobiles and buildings).
  • bugfixes, balance tweaks, and 3D model improvements to the look of a bunch of units.

INSTRUCTIONS: If you haven't already, install Total Mayhem 6.92 first, this will include the new TA unofficial patch 3.9.02 with a bunch of new features (double-click units, CTRL_F, CTRL_B, mouse-wheel to a MEGAMAP, lots more). Then, unzip this download into your TOTALA\Total Mayhem folder.

If you are running Windows 8, or Windows 7 with NVidia graphics, and have trouble running the game, you will need this hotfix (just unzip to your Total Mayhem folder, overwriting existing files).

Downloading individual units and then configuring various files for every single one is a bit of work when you want as many as possible.

So, are there any modders or people who have already done this for the extreme amount of units that exist for Total Annihilation? Or compilations with new units to add ontop of the existing ones?

Total Mayhem includes over 400 umits in total. TA has a limit of 512 units and 256 weapons, although the new unofficial 4.0 patch in development removes these limits. Which is a good thing too, there's no way I'd be able to add the TLL race with that limit.

If I may say so, my mod offers better quality units than 99% of Unit Universe.

Most of the units included are old favourite 3rd-party units... but vastly improved in quality and balance.

I have to scout TA Universe and do a comparison check. Appears i have about 45 MB stored in one folder that can be e-mailed into two parts. These included AMD, Cuken, Estella-Star, M3G, Mad TA, Magma, Mayhem, Mechwars, TAAN Units, TA-Power, TR, Tarad. I have a mix bag of personal favorites collection that i use for gaming as well - only the best. I use an HPI viewer as well the Conflict Crusher for my favs.

You might find some of your favourite units are in Total Mayhem, in improved form ;)

If you dont, then you're welcome to suggest some! There are about 30 more unit slots spare in Total Mayhem. I'm always open to suggestions.
