[OSP] InVain's TLD Scene Pack

Just as TLD, this package is an OSP, so you're free to change, re-upload or incorporate it into other mods. Please give me some credit. :)
Keep in mind that you'll need most if not all of the TLD scene props to use these scenes. In the package, I only included those props added or modified by me.

Please be also aware that some scenes are far bigger than their original counterparts. They will all take some time to load and may or may not cause lag on older machines, although I tried to skimp on particle effects like smoke. For comparison: I have an Intel i5 4570 and a Radeon R9 270X and all
scenes run fine. If you use battle sizer, I recommend reducing the battle size to ~100 for sieges. Not only for performance reasons, but also because I think this gives you a bit more time to enjoy the scene. Not all sieges are thoroughly tested, so please let me know of any problems you encounter.

You're welcome to report bugs or leave a comment in the comment section. Check the main thread on Taleworlds for new version announcements and quick bugfixes!

Disclaimer
This submod brings some changes that either may affect gameplay or the aesthetics of some scenes:
- The war intro cutscenes won't work properly due to the changed scenes.
- Destructable gates are much stronger now.
- This mod overwrites TLD's 'black' pebble ground texture with Vanilla's, so some scenes, namely orc camps, might look strange now until I fix this.

List of scenes

Gondor
Minas Tirith:basically re-done. Looks huge now, but only a small portion is
walkable. Much more complex and atmospheric siege scene (expect to
die).

Pelennor Fields: own creation, still needs some crop fields

Pelargir: vastly expanded, new siege scene, needs some more details

West Osgiliath: expanded, changed siege a bit.

Cair Andros: Recreation, kept some features

Dol Amroth: recreated, but kept original concep

Edhellond, Lossarnach,Calembel: minor changes in siege scenes

Rohan

Erebor: heavily expanded

Gates of Erebor / Erebor siege: new creation

Dale: new creation

Esgaroth: new creation

Credits
The original and current TLD team for creating and keeping alive this great mod. This OSP is also meant as a tribute to you. TLD for M&B .808 was my reason to buy this game in the first place.
Gutekfiutek for some textures I recklessly stole from his great Polished Buildings pack
Ruthven for some water particle effects which I did not yet manage to get to work properly |-)
Crusaders Way to Expiation Mod: some meshes

Installation

If you've manually downloaded and installed TLD

  • Go to mod's directory. It is inside the "modules" subfolder within Warband's main directory.
  • Create a backup!
  • Unpack the scene pack's zip file into your TLD directory. It should ask if you want to overwrite existing files, allow that.
  • Before applying a new nightly patch, make sure that patch does NOT contain one of these files: module.ini, scenes.txt, scene_props.txt, flora_kinds (in the "Data" subfolder). If it does, check if a new version of the scene pack has already been released. If so, install the nightly patch and then reinstall the scene pack over it.

If you've downloaded TLD via Steam Workshop

  • Go to the mod's directory. It should be here: \Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\48700\299974223
  • Create a backup!
  • Unpack the scene pack's zip file into your TLD directory. It should ask if you want to overwrite existing files, allow that.
  • Updating your mod via Steam Workshop might cause problems if the new version changes certain files (see above). If that happens, check if I've already released a compatible version of the scene pack. Usually, this happens within a few days.

If you want to use the scene pack in combination with another submod

  • Most submods that I know of do not change the same files as the scene pack: module.ini, scenes.txt, scene_props.txt, flora_kinds (in the "/Data" subfolder). However, the scene pack also uses some assets that have only recently been added to vanilla TLD. If your submod is based on an older version of TLD, you need to manually add these assets:
  • Create a backup of your mod first!
  • Download the latest version of TLD: Tldmod.github.io
  • Copy all BRF files from the "/Resource" subfolder that your mod is missing. That's most importantly all files starting with "JB_"
  • Do the same for all textures in "/Textures" associated with these BRF files, again, that's mainly those starting with "JB_". Use the programm "OpenBRF" to check which textures are referenced in the BRF files.
  • Compare your mod's module.ini with the one from my scene pack and add all load_mod_resource entries that are missing. That should be it.
  • If your submod changes the .txt files specified above, you need to know how to mod Warband via text editing or via the module system (only works if you have the submods source files). The scene pack's source files are included in the archive.
  • I do not grant any support if you've installed the scene pack along with another submod! Before asking for help, make sure that any problems you encounter also happen if using the scene pack with vanilla TLD!

TLD overhaul için yapılsa çok iyi olur. Hem askerlerin skinleri hem de kaleler filme uygun olursa çok eğlenceli olabilir.

How am I supposed to understand this? No, this is not compatible with TLD Overhaul, but it's open source for a reason.

Interesting, thanks for the info!
Generally, this is likely to be compatible to other submods as long as they are based on a somewhat up-to-date version of TLD. However, I refuse to provide any support as I cannot possibly ensure compatibility with the 4 or 5 other submods hosted in moddb alone.

Great scenery, not fond of all, it would be ideal to be able to choose which scenery we wanna use for each town... Minas Morgul (although little buggy with my M&B warband 1.168) and mostly dol guldur are awesome ! Thanks

Thanks! The scene files are stored in the 'SceneObj' folder. However, most scenes also use a custom terrain code which is in scenes.txt. With a bit of fiddling, it shouldn't be hard to only install those scenes you want or to overwrite those you don't want with the main mod's.

What bugs did you encounter in Minas Morgul? Could you maybe link a screenshot?

Thanks for the answer, I will try it ! My computer just reset so can't do that. But for what I remember, in the heights of the city, during a siege, collisions for sloping ground were buggy, the soldiers could "dig/spawn" into the ground with only the head visible, making them harder to kill ^^ But that isn't very important ! Thanks

Update: The ramps in Minas Morgul indeed had the wrong collision meshes. Thanks for spotting!
I forgot to fix this for v.2.0 but I'll include this in the next update.

I will look into it. I don't really understand why, but when collision meshes bug out, sometimes even re-starting the battle helps. (Which suggests that it's an engine issue.)
But maybe it's simply some ill-placed spawn points.
