Titan: XCIX is a first person adventure that takes place aboard the ill fated star ship of the same name. When an accident rips apart a lone ship on a routine mission, the crew find themselves fighting for survival, and each other in a unique Single Player experience, that's been in the making for the past two years. Developed single handedly by Robin "IZaNaGI" Molde (Jailbreak!: Source, Survival Mod II for JK:JA), Players will face many challenges that will test their brains rather than their trigger fingers. Requires Half-Life 2: Episode Two
after fully playing this mod i was impressed. although it wasnt as imersive as hl2 and there was barly any action it did have a good story and fun gamplay and it has me really whanting to play part 2 although i dont care about having ton's of action but some gunplay would be nice but keep it up i really whant a part two for this.
What isn't there to love about this mod? The maps, the characters, the voice acting, the textures, the music, the story, the puzzles? It's nearly perfect. I had so much fun playing this mod.
Ok, so maybe I had trouble getting that barrel through the vent which was for a puzzle later, or maybe I did something wrong. I'm not sure that was very clear, but it's not too important.
I just finished, and I really enjoyed playing through, and it being more story and puzzle driven was a nice change of pace. (I've been playing A LOT of SMOD) However, is there a second part in development? I'm suddenly really hoping that there is more combat, and a little revision to the movements, like being able to sprint. Something that did peeve me a little, was that the movement speed while crouched was so slow that I moved reminiscently of a snail. Fix that, man. But, criticisms aside, it was an excellent game, and I look forward to part two.
Titan: XCIX part 1 is an excellent mod. As a Sci-fi lover, the story and the atmosphere are simply very well done throughout the game. As you go, little bits of information, such as magazines laying around, data pads or simply the humour of the XCIX AI, give the mod a nice touch.
Something I particularly like is the absence of direct combat during most of the game. Instead, it revolves around a multitude of puzzles and interactions with the ship, which is something you don't see often.
On the other side, the voice acting is a little bit rusty with some characters. It is great, but it could have used a bit more polishing. Also, some of the conversations with some of the other crewmates are a little dull from time to time.
Other than that, the mod is just simply amazing! I'm really looking forward to part2!
