TWA is intended to fix various bugs and errors in Tiberian Wars and to improve the gameplay through the addition of new units, abilities and upgrades without changing the basic gameplay for CnC3.

Quite possible the last update for TWA ever. Seriously.

To make it as short as possible:

TWA is dead.

I stopped working on it some time ago and, honestly, I dont feel like starting to work on it again.
Why? Because of 2 reasons:

EAs "Support" & Fallout 3.

If you ever try modding or mapping for CnC3 or RA3, you will notice that EAs tools are basically a joke - while they allow you to edit basic unit stats and values, it is impossible to edit unit values for the campaign (hence the Firehawk bugs in TWA) or edit most unit models (you would need the source files from the models, but EA IGNORED every request for them - the only reason we could edit the infantry models was that EA included some of them in the SDK as a "get started" kit)
Apparently, EA does not seem to care about making their tools user-friendly either. Seriously, they are using the Worldbugger... errrr -builder since CnC Generals (that means they made new WBs for CNC:Gen, Zero Hour, BFME, BMFE2, BMFE2:ROTWK, CnC3 and KW) and yet their RA3 WB is still... lets just say there is a lot of room for improvements...
They even already have a release date for RA3: Uprising, when yet there is no clear information when a RA3 SDK will come (not to mention a RA3:Uprising SDK).
And don't even get me started on "EA's Modding Guru" Mastermind, also know as Mr. "I gave some support in the beginning and then disappeared into nothingness" Mastermind.

And the second reason is Fallout 3 - not only that it is a fun game to play and the whole atmosphere is way better than in CnC3, but it also has a tool called G.E.C.K - I don't want to go in details, but after seeing the GECK and Bethesdas modding support, I just don't care anymore for EA and their "support"..

Nevertheless, there is a lot of new stuff in TWA 1.53 that would be a shame to scrap, so there a good chance that I might polish the current version (aka fix some gamebreaking bugs and remove unfinished units) and then release it as TWA 1.6, but I can' t promise anything.

Oh,man.agree with you on EA sdk infidelity. I think this is one of EA tactic to stop people from making a mod that can owned big time their original game :)
Seeing that this mod is dead, why dont you give some model or feature to some cnc3 mod to be used in their mod.at least tiberium adv. legacy will live on in some mod :)

This is very sad to here but I understand you. TWA is the best CNC3 mod out there, I see it as an unofficial patch. It's great really. Well It would ofcourse be a waste to just scrap that Wraith and the mini airfields. So it would be very kind of you if you released them as 1.6.

I was looking forward to the next build, but the former Westwood staff have really gotten stuck up since the full merger with EA. I don't even feel the same about Petroglyph, it seems the rigid community support attitude that was there in the beginning is gone now.

Maybe they'll come around in time, but nobody should expect you to work with broken tools.

Can we expect TWA 1.6 final to be released anytime soon? I am sorry to hear that, but haven't any of you guys have forgotten MidEast Crisis 2 for C&C3? It now has an official release date from their site!!

Most of the complaints are valid, although I'd add "UI editor, particlefx editor" to the list...however the tone you have, this sense of entitlement really is out of line.

EA makes games, that is their business...their business isn't making mod-friendly engines. We're lucky they were able to support C&C3 modding to the extent they did (look at KW or RA3 for how it could've been).

While working on MEC2, we've hit a great deal of walls...attempting to do a great deal more ambitious things than anything in TWA. However, we never thought of giving up due to them.

With all due respect, MEC2 isn't comparable to TWA and neither are the teams behind the modifications. TWA is highly modular and, above all, it already features multiple releases - canceling it at this point means loosing about 5% of the content at most. Canceling MEC2 now would mean loosing it all, yet in the future you too will move on after a couple of releases.
The TWA team consists of about one and a half persons at a time, two if you're being generous. Our resources are very limited and in the past months, most of them were wasted on restoring redundant data (models, sounds, etc.) so that there even -was- something to base the modifications on. Seeing how much time could have been saved for us (and other partial conversions) with only very little work from EA (some of which they repeatedly promised to do) this is ultimately extremely frustrating.

Yes, making C&C3 modable at all never was a matter of course and TW-modding sure was a lot of fun (as evident by our devotion both to this mod and support for the community). However, this makes neither the tools nor the modding support any better when compared to other games.

Anyways, I dare say that this is a very complex issue and the news post is far from depicting the whole situation.

And I never really wanted to give it up myself - but after using the Fallout3 SDK and seeing its support (video tutorials and a official wiki), its like driving a tank and then going back to driving a bike.

And I still think after APOC "Modding TW will be as easy as modding Generals" promise, their support should have been MUCH better.

Is there by any chance when a mod goes canceled, all the work you developers have done shall go into the archives? I really wish that someday you guys will release the source codes for this mod just like "Gunrun" did to CNC3 Retarded.

The support is fine - as is the SDK. Get over it.
