Tiberian Sun Rising is a total conversion for Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars! Tiberian Sun Rising brings back GDI and Nod battling it out during the Second Tiberium War, retelling Tiberian Sun as never before. This isn't just a remake of the hit title C&C Tiberian Sun. It is a mod making Tiberian Sun as it should have been originally so expecting lots of new fun and originality while sticking to the feel Tiberian Sun had. Taking the mindset that this is the first time Tiberian Sun is being made and using the original game as a design concept. This mod will also include the additions made in Firestorm so it is a remake of Tiberian Sun and Firestorm as one to what they should have been.New abilities and units will appear in Tiberian Sun Rising as well as new kind of gameplay altogether.

We're workin on em relax ;) thou id say how they appear on this map is more in line with how I'd like on most maps. Not too in your face.

At first I thought the circles were also showing health and perhaps direction of the cannons or whatever (like in those WWII games like Africa Corps Vs. Desert rats you could turn the turret for faster response when assuming a defensive, hold ground stance.

What I really like in C&C 3 is the thing you can do with ordering units to take a formation or arrive and stop at a spot facing a certain way. That was left out of C&C4, much to my annoyance. A small thing, but can be useful.

Assassin, have you considered making the rings look different for Buildings and units at all?

Yes we have, we'll be overhauling the housecolor rings on various types, Infantry, vehicles, structures and even the way Aircraft is done the rings being below them its sometimes hard to track aircraft. So dont worry current system isnt final but we're defiantly not having housecolors painted onto the actual objects like traditional RTS.

Seem like a good, innovative idea for RTS games. Though, I think will miss the red highlights. It look good on some units and structures. I even had the Tactix mod where there was a white color and it looked really bad-*** on NOD, certainly quite bright and eye-catching, not stealthy, but good none the less.

But, yeah, having no colors, especially with NOD, all black and in stealth is a good idea.

Hmm... honestly I don't like the rings, the red team looks like the pink team on this map. Why were you against house colors on the model from the beginning, anyway?

Look at our screenshots, then go back and play normal C&C3 then come back and tell me if you still think painted on housecolor's looks better.

Isn't painted on housecolor's is something like that originally to differ mirror faction battles? I mean it was like that in every c&c games.. Although I'm willing to try something new. :)

Well I like the idea that your a part of the Brotherhood of Nod or Global Defense Initiative. Regardless of if your going rogue and attacking your own faction in multi-player.

Unless you want the ability to choose from a variety of Splinter Nod faction skins *to differentiate a divided Nod perhaps*, as for GDI not sure what that'd be they use camouflage. Different shades of that camouflage for that map type perhaps.

Nah lets just stick with your idea and see what happens then. :)

Then again how do you know which unit your selecting or not?

it should have a health bar over it if its selected, right?
btw, i always liked house color painting, but this one is something new and i am willing to try and maybe like, provided the rings are darker

wait a minute...so rather than the typical house color on the units and structures you are offering this rings instead?... love it!!! I always thought somebody should give it a try, through the history of C&C games I always thought most units will look better if they look the way they would in reality, without that scandalous big patch of red or yellow on top of them.
I mean lets face it how many nations out there stick their big flag in the side of their vehicles? (some do but not many and when they do it is really really small) or paint the nation colors to their soldiers uniforms? hm?

this one you can tell, not so much from an eagle view perspective.
En.wikipedia.org

if you cant guest these are brazilian marines
En.wikipedia.org

Chilean...chilenan or whatever they have the flag but isnt colored.

spaniard navy

the point is units looks way cooler without so much house coloring on them, the less the better I would say.

The only thing along these lines that I could possibly see (in terms of "house" colors. Is if you capture an enemy structure (say a GDI barracks), The first thing I'd do as a Nod commander is raise a NOD flag over it. To be honest that was something I always wondered about.

Actually an idea being considered inspired by "The First Tiberian War" an older mod project from CnC Source as well, which Tiberian Dawn for C&C3 became its successor *again a CnC Source project like TS Rising*. The First Tiberian War you could repaint GDI/Nod units to be stylized for there faction. Eg painting a GDI Mammoth tank with Nods colorings.

Such an idea is being considered for TS Rising yes ;).

You mean slap dark painting on captured GDI tech. Awesome. But, do infantry as well. I can just imagine Zone Raider chicks, in black armor, running along my convoy. Pure win.

Well its being looked into, see if it suits TS:Rising, but could potentially be cool to see a Nod looking Titan running around etc.

yes it could, and you could easily take some liberties with the design, ask yourself a question "what the titan would look like if it was of Nod origin?" hmmm!? maybe it doesnt have to be the titan just painted with dark colors and Nod's sign stick on the side, it could be the titan looking the way it would if it was made with Nod's tech, think about it.

I've actually thought about that, but that means a heap of modelling work. If it is done it'll start as just a retexture and MAY evolve from there.

The other thought we changing the models in a GDI or Nod style is they may be hard to recognize and needlessly complicate the game.

Oh, yeah!

"Hey, what is tha-*BOOM*, oh a Titan with a laser...hm...Hey! That was a perfectly good Pitbull there! Damn NOD!"

LOL Could happen. Wolverines with gattling lasers, painted black, NOD insignia...*drool* Would actually make the Wolverine into a good unit.

Can we get an "Alternate" ring effect with maybe a glow instead? I worry that with large clusters of say infantry the rings will become distracting. I like the idea tho :) just makes it feel claustrophobic XD
