A total conversion for the Medieval II Total War - Kingdoms expansion
Main Features
1. The Middle-earth Map

Play on an extensive historically accurate map of Middle-earth as it was in the Third Age, including 114 settlements taken straight from Middle-earth lore and completed with several fictional locations.
Visit the wonders of Middle-earth, like the Three Towers, the Argonath or Durin's tower and see all the unique locations of Middle-earth like Minas Tirith, the Black Gate or Isengard. See the hills of Rohan, the huge forest of the Mirkwood and the dark ash of Mordor.
2. The Factions
![]()
Play with all important factions of the Third Age, including Gondor, Rohan, High and Silvan Elves, Dwarves, Eriador, Dale, Isengard, Mordor, Rhun, Harad and the Orcs of the Misty Mountains.
Every faction has its own strengths and weaknesses, benefits and disadvantages on the battle as well as the campaign map. Decide if you want to face your enemy with a small, but trained and heavily armored army or if you count on masses of units to overrun your foes.
The unit design is based on visual references of the Lord of the rings movie trilogy, completed with fictional units and artwork, all based on the lore of Middle-earth.
3. The Gameplay
The end of the Third Age is a time where good and evil wage a decisive war for the final domination of Middle-earth. Both ways, freeing the good people of Middle earth as well as bringing the world under the shadow will not be an easy task for the player. A new campaign and battle AI will make the player's life much harder and a unit recruitment based on a cultural level and a regional recruitment requires strategically decisions and will slow down your expansion if not properly planned. The AI will also receive certain bonuses like extra money or additional armies if they get in serious trouble to compensate the lack of human intelligence and the lack of income through missions.
4. The Design
In order to reflect the world of Middle-earth as good as possible, there is an almost complete rework of the 2D and 3D design, including the menu, the interface, the symbols and pictures and much more.
To create an even deeper atmosphere, all cultures have a unique set of music and unit sounds and voices were completely changed for many factions.
Lastly there is a huge amount of new videos, including the intro, the faction intros and many in-game events.

So in other words i need to get Kingdoms? Ah well. I hate Platinum editions of games (Yes i know I'm silly) so looks I'll have to find me a used copy. Well, nothing is better than a good treasure hunt!

Fantastic!!! Downloading... congrats on the release guys...
Great mod, i been testing it all night and i gotta say tis excelent. just a few problems to sort out.
bug list below which i found on 3 seperate systems.
Anti ani x2/x4 on nvidia cards in the 9000 range causes severe c2dt.
High resolutions may cause graphic glitches when going armies of mordor or harad especially when using elephant units.
Few sound glitches when eax is enabled (using soundblaster Xi 24-bit)
aside from that no other problems i can find tried on all settings on both nvidia and ati cards (ati range includes most of the HD series)
all the best for future releases hope my little bug list will contribute :)
boo yah!
I'd hug you if I could. Cant wait to play it :D
time to install medieval 2 once again, awesome job guys
Re-installing Medieval II now :)
Been waiting for this!!!!
When MTW 2 and Kingdoms came out, they made it so the digital versions were only compatible with each other and only the retail versions were compatible with one another. I own the digital download of mtw2. Does this mod require the retail, digital, or does it not matter? Like an idiot I bought the retail Kingdoms expansion assuming I could add it MTW2 digital download. I was wrong. So, I wanted to check that this was compatible with all versions before I go out and buy the Kingdoms digital download.
Definitely one of the best mods ever!
Awesome!!!
Will future versions of this mod be updated through the use of patches or will we have to re-download the whole thing again?
I've been having a problem with the Mod. After I installed it (everything installed properly with no error messages etc...) when I try to play it (starting the 'Third Age - Total War' shortcut from the Desktop) I get the following error message 'Windows cannot find "kingdoms.exe". Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Start'. When this error message appears, it appears in a normal Windows dialog box, but along with that appears a DOS-Terminal called 'Third Age - Total War', inside the box it says this 'E:\Games Installation Folder\Medieval 2\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age>cd...\...' and also 'E:\Games Installation Folder\Medieval 2\Medieval II Total War>start kingdoms.exe @ mods\Third_Age\TATW.cfg'.
I have no idea how to sort this out, I am fairly computer savvy, and this pretty much stumps me. I've tried starting the mod from the source file (Third Age MS-DOS Batch File), no joy. I've also tried dragging and dropping the TATW MS-DOS Batch File into the 'Third Age - Total War' Shortcut on the Desktop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as from what I've seen from the screen shots etc... This looks like the best Medieval II - Total War mod I've ever seen, and probably the best LOTR Mod I've ever seen (including the Rome - Total War LOTR mod). As I said, any help is greatly appreciated, I really want to play this amazing mod.
peace all, respect to the modders/scripters etc...
eni_
damn, I might buy Kingdoms for this
Played it and it is truly amazing!! Although, I hope in the next patch we can play castle siege in custom battle mode.
mine is bugged its say ''Could not find Kingdoms.exe'' ;(
I just ordered a copy of medieval II + kingdoms for the express purpose of playing this mod
I assume the latest Medieval II and Kingdoms patch is required for this to run, correct?
It looks orgasmic by the way.
I forgot about the overview risk-like game mode Total War games had so I didn't look at this mod (not that having LOTR battles isn't awesome) but actually...Seeing as how there is so much more to Total War than the average y'know what, think I'll try this and I'm sure I wont be disappointed. =D
If you're having problems installing (Cannot find Kingdoms Exe thing) Then make sure you have the right version. Amazing mod though (<3 teh uruks) and the patch fixed up my biggest issue; All the diplomats and generals were continuously referring to England. ._. But it's awesome though!
EDIT: Sorry for double post. :|
Does this Mod include cities like Minas Tirith and castles like Helm's deep?
Could someone tell me the whole process from the beggining to the end to install this mindtaking mod?pleeeeeeeeeease!!!
I mean what programs must i have cause its the first time i want to download a mod!
