Jul 02, 2005 Patch 0 commentsThe latest patch for The Trenches World War I Half-Life modification. Requires the full 1.0 Beta to work.
Who And When
"The Trenches" is a World War I mod for the Half-Life engine. Included in our first release are the British and Germans, two large players of the "Great War". Players will be able to fight for their homelands with six different weapons on many locations on the Western Front with two different kinds of gameplay.
Game Play
Rush over the top with your teammates or stay in your trench to pick off enemy troops in "Trench Capture" gameplay (tt) and cover the advance of your army to in territorial push (tp) play.
Special Features
The Trenches will have some features that will make this an even more unique mod than it already is. Some of these features (for the first release) include:
-Custom Faces (no additional files needed!)
-Built in MP3 Player with Exclusive Tracks
-Realistic ambient sound system
-Two classes for the Germans and British Imperial Forces
-Manual "game action" system
-High damage variables
-Anti-"Cheap" measures against spawn camping, absurd weapon reload times, ect.
Multi-Country Team Select
You can choose from 6 countries that were involved in the First World War. Only two will be available in the first release, but we do plan on more.
Allied Forces:
British Empire
Central Powers:
Germany

Well, it is time for some new news on this page, don't you think? With Morphew unable to update the site regularly, I will be filling in a bit to keep you all informed on our situation.
We are currently still working diligently on getting 1.1 released, and we are honestly closer than ever. To hold you all over for a bit, I figured I would make this news release a 2-part facet.
One is the release of tp_city, made by our mapper extraordinaire Hawk. It can be downloaded here or you can browse on over to the Downloads page and get it there as well. Remember, this is a custom map for The Trenches 1.0b.
Now to the other part of the post, 1.1 media. While we have been fairly skimpy with the media on the front page, we have been posting more and more on the forums. I figured I would share a few of those pictures with you as well as one never before seen outside a few select people. Here they are:

Top-right: A flare that has gone out, floating down. The Luger is jammed.
Bottom-left: A misguided flare on the ground lighting the immediate area.

Remember! The shots of 1.1 should be considered as work-in-progress. The content shown within is subject to change before release.

Dont worry,Slasher is back on the team and better than ever,He was just a bit mad so he wrote that...Everything is under control and fine :) . Now I have a message from the leader of the mod : Hotel Security
"Hey guys, Hotel here. We're coming now the home stretch and we definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we need your help! If you're a skinner of player models or an animator (or both), please contact HotelSecurity at HFB_Mail@yahoo.com or go to our forums and post in the general section. We'd love to have you on the team. Please include a sample of your work and a brief background of your gaming history. Thanks in advance.
Now here's the good news! The trenches progress has been raised to a whopping 86.6%!!!The demo will go out shortly!!But we still need skinners or animators if you want the release to go out earlier.Anyways Thank you for visiting and have good day"
It's nice to see a mod that pays this much attention to historical accuracy.
In reply to ceacar99.
Thats why their new leader is a historian.if you were on the team you'd know how much work they put into making this thing real. HotelSecurity writes 8 page documents just on small pieces of the mod for historical accuracy.
Looking foward to its release Jman - dont forget my modeling offer is still up if u wanna take it ;)

"i cant wait for this mod to get released. world wars are just so fuckin tight! if u like this mod, read the book called All Quiet on the Western Front(also a movie,) its a great WW1 book and its all about everything in this mod"
even though that is a great book i sujest you do some plain research as well. however realistic the book is it wont teach you all that is ww1. anyway i have been watchin this mod for a while now and i can say that it will be a great mod for those who have low end machines. the old leader, j-man made it clear to the public that this game will work on all systems. also it isnt set in early war, they decided to set this mod in late war so they can get all the cool guns in.
I played the trenches for a lil while a bit ago when it seemed like there was no work being done to update it. Now I'm re-downloading it - last time I played there was practically no one playing it. I'd like to see a version for source as well...we all know they'd get it done sooner than the guys over workingon SommeyValley. lol
im serious this is gon be the shiznitz!!!
