Who And When "The Trenches" is a World War I mod for the Half-Life engine. Included in our first release are the British and Germans, two large players of the "Great War". Players will be able to fight for their homelands with six different weapons on many locations on the Western Front with two different kinds of gameplay. Game Play Rush over the top with your teammates or stay in your trench to pick off enemy troops in "Trench Capture" gameplay (tt) and cover the advance of your army to in territorial push (tp) play. Special Features The Trenches will have some features that will make this an even more unique mod than it already is. Official The Trenches mappers like Hawk and gotrick weren't always on the team. After dedication, persistance, and demonstration of a great degree of both talent and character, they proved themselves worthy of the title of TT Development Team members. There's no better feeling to have a concept or physical work make it into a game that hundreds and thousands of other people will be playing.

Here's your chance to have that feeling! Mapping The Trenches, our development run project to cater to the needs of our third party mapping community, is offering you the chance to have an official map. Note that The Trenches has been reviewed by many members of the online gaming community as well as a handful of European gaming magazines!

So here's the scoop:

Think of some innovative ideas and turn it into a bsp file! There's no set deadline but the contest will end around the end of spring. Make sure you keep the following in mind:

-Historical Accuracy
-Trench maps should be in the "tt" format, not "tp"
-Management of r_speeds
-Enough spawn points and spawn exits
-Uniqueness

PM HotelSecurity (me!) if you need any textures. So long as the requests are not too great, we can possibly make some for you. If you use other's textures, be sure to ask them for permission of use. Plagarism is immediate and unarguable means for disqualification: please, use YOUR work!

In other news, 1.1 is still being developed. Bear with us guys! I know we have not been posting many screenshots or even text posts in the forums. We want the development to be a secret to everyone who has been waiting for the next Trenches release. Inevitably some people will say that we're really making no progress and just stalling. Let me assure you from a few beta testing sessions that things are progressing along quite nicely and remind you that similar people said our 1.0 version would be a complete failure. Thousands of hits, hundreds of new forum users, and dozens of new servers later, we're still here. Thanks for your patience and your constructive input.
