You wake up on a rainy night to a bang on the door and thunder. You get up to see a letter in a puddle of water next to the door it's from your brother telling you that you need to come home... that dad has found something of much power and he has gone mad in science. He goes on saying that he read some of dad's notes saying he has found a way to live for ever and to bring the dead back to life to do his bidding. I fear for my life and mother's... The rest of the letter is too wet to read. You must travel to the village of Chupa and get in your dad's castle there and find out what's going on.
You don't always find a mod like this, but here it is. The best use of the Amnesia assets I've ever seen. Every level has had so much detail put in, that its a feast for the eyes. He somehow manages to make everything look different to anything we've seen in Amnesia. Hes got a gift! It's one of the longest mods I've ever played (the longest mod for Amnesia, beating Lost the Lights by about an hour). The pacing is excellent (the monsters come when you don't expect but also occasionally when you do expect, jump scares are very few but well placed), the puzzles are new (sure you still have to search for stuff) but it feels fresh to find these new items... the atmosphere and use of sound is chilling. It gives every area life and breathes tension eventhough the visuals already do a great job. The only criticism I can think of is the storyline was decent, it keeps things interesting but the readables you find are a bit to predictable and don't shed much light on the state of things. I feel with some professional writers working with this modder could probably make this into a MOTY potential!
Very long and atmospheric CS. Full of potential but unfortunately, everything went to waste with all the cheapscares using that "lovely" iron maiden's scream
Seriously, those made no sense at all and seriously ruined the experience for me. Never got to finish it, I admit but after hearing that scream 3 times, I just gave up.
Is really sad seeing those CS full of potential really abusing this sort of cheapscares.
Really incredible custom story. By far the best I've played, and I haven't even finished it yet.
~Amazing scenery and map designs (the village was designed flawlessly in my opinion)
~ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC atmosphere and music, it really made me feel truly creeped out, especially in the cellar.
~Greatly placed jump scares, always where I least expected them. It was good that it wasn't overkill with them. They were at the best moments.
~Really long CS, I feel like it should be divided into two chapters, the first ending when you place the two orbs on the angel and lion pedestals
~There were some really difficult puzzles
~Some maps were too large
Overall I think that this is an outstanding custom story, and that it really excells as far as scenery at atmosphere go.
