The Stanley Parable is an experimental narrative-driven first person game. It is an exploration of choice, freedom, storytelling and reality, all examined through the lens of what it means to play a video game.
You will make a choice that does not matter
You will follow a story that has no end
You will play a game you cannot win
...it's actually best if you don't know anything about it before you play it :D
TSP does not actually require Half Life 2 on PC, only the Source SDK which should download automatically when you start the game. On Mac, HL2 is required.

it seems that i am the only one who doesn't like this map, (it's not a mod). I played both endings, and also did take the right door in the middle of the map, and again both options that are given there. So, i played it fully through. When i first read a lot of comments and reviews about this single small map i was really interested to see what people where talking about. What was it that made them all give this map a rating of nines and tens (9/10). But ones i played it i thought i missed something…

Shut the **** up, PewDiePie fans, just because he played the ******* mod doesn't mean people have to bitch about PewDiePie. GTFO, PewDiePie fanfucks. (more like PleaseDiePie)
TheOneMuffin, Source SDK 2006/2007(IDK WHICH ONE)works too, no HL2 needed to be installed :3 ALSO, it is for OSX too.
And one more thing:PEWDIEPIE FANS ARE 12 YEAR OLDS WHO ARE MENTALLY CHALLENGED!

well um i'm sorry but you argument is invalid due to the fact im a 16 year old with a job that is not "mentally CHALLENGED", and i happen to love pewds! so i would recommend you go back to the slime hole you were born from and get a life other than picking on people from the internet :) good day sir

It does need HL2, it uses its assets(such as the citizen model). But I guess Cake pointed out that it downloads thos e for you.
It is 2007 that you need, 2006 is old and needs to be removed.
I also updated my "rant" about the Mac thing.
Are PewDiePie fans mental or something?
1} It's not a game, it's a mod.
2) Therefore it requires you own Half-Life 2 ON STEAM to play it
3) Some people seem to think they can download a mod, then put Stanley parable in it to make it somehow work, that's just not logical.
4) Install it in to Source Mods and restart steam, it's not rocket science.
5) It's not a "scam". If 1 million people have played it, you are either a little kid and have zero clue what to do, or are really stupid, or both.
6) It's not outdated, try all of the above and make sure Source SDK Base 2007 is downloaded.
7) It isn't for Linux (yet), so if you have it, just stop now.
8) Stop complaining and telling people not to download it because it doesn't work for you only.
9) If you have Mac, it's most likely to be really buggy as Source SDK hasn't particularily been made for Macs.

well i think you got it wrong on the 2nd one while it does use hl2 assets you dont need hl2 installed you just need the source SDK 2007 which is free

Hey, just so you know, if you're downloading V1.4, you'll have to download V1.2 first, then put the V1.4 files in V1.2 and then it might work.
I tried playing this a month ago but it would't launch for me either, My theory was that it was "out-dated" from the current version of steam.
